So as you all know, I use this platform to update everyone about what’s going on in my cattery. Almost all the time it’s happy news. New babies, new awards, new additions.
This news is heartbreaking. It’s also proof I can be better. I thought I had everything perfect but that 1% chance happened to me.
I keep my males and females completely separate. Boys upstairs and girls downstairs. It was 99.9% perfection. No errors and no issues.
Well, it appears accidents happen. Even if we have things running perfectly.
My baby, My best friend, my everything apparently got upstairs when I was at work. I don’t know if it was my husband or son but they confused one black cat for another.
In the blink of an eye, My boy Dan took complete advantage of the mistake. I was pi**ed when I got the call they made a mistake. My husbands really good about not letting mistakes happen so I assume it was my son. But what happened happened and fighting about it was dumb. I just crossed my fingers the one time Dan jumped on her, didn’t take.
Well apparently it did. I woke up Monday morning with my girl screaming at me to wake up. She then took me to a spot where I found what looked like a placenta. I checked her and her bottom was wet and there was some blood. When she got out it was July 21st. So I knew I was dealing with a miscarriage.
I called my vet to make arrangements for an oxy shot and antibiotics. My vet never returned my many calls. I ended up in the ER later that afternoon. What did they do? Exactly what I knew needed to be done. I also brought an under developed fetus.
On Tuesday my girl was still bleeding. (Spotting) Nothing more came out. I could feel something still inside so again I called my vet several times. Spent the entire day watching my girl and calling the vet. I also called to try and get in to see other vets. I couldn’t walk her in because ALL the vets in my area refuse to see any pets without an appointment. With me having recent right knee surgery. Driving is limited. I called and called. Getting past the front office staff was impossible.
Then we get to Wednesday. 3 days after the ER visit. I’m calling and calling. My girl is still bleeding (spotting) and now it’s getting worse. This was now an emergency (in my book).
Finally!!! My vet called and asked me to bring her in. They asked what I wanted to do. We were past the point of oxy with the amount of blood coming out, it was no longer spotting. (I was taking her to ER Wednesday if I didn’t get in) So I had them spay her.
Im not going to get into the weeds about the vet but I tore them a new ass. I will not be going back. I will be telling everyone what happened.
I picked my girl up at 5:30pm. She was not even lucid. She was still very much under the influence of the anesthesia. She should have been kept and on oxygen until it was safe for her to come home.
Lucky for her I’m very experienced and can handle these situations. She’s very comfortable and resting.
She’s been drinking water and walking a little bit. All the other cats have been banished to the upstairs while she recovers in my bedroom right next to me.
There is light at the end of this tunnel. I’ve wanted to spay her for awhile now. She’s my best friend and each litter took a toll on her. I wanted her to just live her best life with no more work.
Couture is resting and when she’s healed. We have a lot of adventures ahead of us. She will be with me the rest of her life, loved and cherished.
Please send prayers and good vibes that she heals fast and is pain free.
Pray that God gives me the knowledge to read her body language and always do what’s best for her.
I love you so much Couture.
I’m so sorry I had to tell you all the bad news.

This post is going around on social media and accusing me of being an abuser. I clearly did my due diligence.
Anyone in north Idaho will say vet care is bad here. Medical care is bad here. You know how many times I’ve seen a real doctor here since 2021? Three…. 2 in the ER and my knee doctor.
Everyone is a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. Doctors don’t work in an office here.
My point in this post was to show everyone that this cattery I took on is not fur and fun. It’s heart break and sleepless nights. Everyone should be open. Then maybe people will understand this is not a money making, award receiving, fun and fluff thing. It’s love and passion for our beloved breeds
