Dalton passed much too soon, this past Saturday, as a result of cancer that was causing his quality of life to decline. He was just 7½ years old. His family made the right, but hardest decision, to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge. Dalton came into WBHR on March 15, 2020, just a couple days before COVID. He and his brother Cooter were transported by Christy from their relinquishing owner near Syracuse, Nebraska. Dalton was fostered and adopted by his family, Layne, Kristina, Eli and Emilee. He joined WBHR basset Maizey and enjoyed the best life! His family was totally committed to him and he became a wonderful boy and addition to their family. He is missed by them and canine sister Nova, but he is now with Maizey and romping in the grass, free of pain. He is so greatly missed.

We heard yesterday of Flash's passing from bone cancer this past Friday. Flash was just 3 weeks shy of his 10th birthday. Flash was an owner relinquishment from Cheyenne and adopted immediately by Stan and Jennifer in Gillette back in February of 2017. Flash had a wonderful home and other basset hound playmates! He passed too young, but he was greatly loved. He will be terribly missed. Gerdie and Bear greeted him at the Rainbow Bridge! No more pain, Flash! Run free.

Back in June of 2025 we announced that we would be dissolving WBHR. That was made final at the end of January this year. We completed the dissolution process with the Wyoming Secretary of State and we closed our post office box. In early 2027, we will file our 2026 tax return. It's bittersweet. Hard to bring the Rescue to a close after over 39 years of helping basset hounds find new homes, but there have also been a lot of great memories over those years. Reflecting back on them, and we're still reflecting, has brought a lot of smiles, too. I'm working on thoughts of ways to help people with rescuing basset hounds, but it's still a work in progress. We won't completely shut down this FB page yet. We may rename it. I'm hopeful we can come up with some way to restructure it and keep helping people to help the bassets!
