Yellowstone Veterinary Hospital is excited to introduce Dr. Kylie Galla!

Dr. Kylie Galla is a veterinarian with a passion for providing thoughtful, high-quality care to horses at every stage of their lives. Dr. Galla earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2023. Following veterinary school, Dr. Galla completed an internship at Rhinebeck Equine in New York, followed by an Equine Hospital internship at Kansas State University, where she gained extensive experience managing both elective and emergency cases working alongside specialists in surgery, medicine, reproduction, and diagnostic imaging.

Most recently, Dr. Galla has served as a Large Animal Surgery Clinical and Research Fellow at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, where she has been actively involved in research exploring new approaches to equine surgical treatment and minimally invasive techniques. Her experience includes equine emergency and critical care, surgery, lameness, reproduction, dentistry, ambulatory medicine, and advanced diagnostic imaging.

In addition to her equine training, Dr. Galla has several years of previous small-animal experience in emergency and specialty practices, including her work at Blue Pearl Veterinary Specialists and Animal Emergency Hospital. As part of the continued growth of Yellowstone Veterinary Hospital, she will also offer small animal services, including routine wellness care, preventative medicine, and select surgical and dental procedures.

Dr. Galla is excited to bring this combination of advanced training and practical, patient-centered approach to Yellowstone Veterinary Hospital. She looks forward to developing lasting relationships with local horse and companion animal owners, and providing dependable veterinary care for their animals that are such an important part of the Cody community.

Dr. Ted Vlahos joined Dr. Dan Carter in a recent podcast about the career-saving Tenex procedure. Dr. Ted Vlahos is the author of the first peer-reviewed publication about the beneficial use of Tenex in veterinary medicine. Please contact our office for additional information and to inquire if this procedure would be beneficial to your horse. Miss Pearl on her 30-day ultrasound and twin check, with a single healthy baby mule! Only 1 in 10,000 twin pregnancies in the horse result in two foals that survive. It is important to have mares examined by ultrasound before day 32. After day 32, if a twin pregnancy is detected and one of the embryos is terminated, should the remaining embryo not survive, mares may not return to a normal cyclic estrus for 5 months, so effectively the breeding season is lost. We strongly advise that mares are examined by ultrasound on days 14 and 30 after ovulation.

Posey returning home 15 days after a complex radius fracture repair. Surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Ted Vlahos and Dr. Kylie Galla along with the amazing team at Yellowstone Equine Hospital. Broken bones in horses can often be repaired, and should no longer be considered a death sentence! 😊🐴

Posey is a 2-month old draft cross filly who suffered a fracture of her radius this weekend. Surgery was successfully performed yesterday at Yellowstone Equine Hospital. Assisting Dr. Ted Vlahos is Dr. Kylie Galla. Dr. Galla is a Surgical Research Fellow at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. We look forward to Dr. Galla joining our team in the near future!

At Yellowstone Equine Hospital, our team provides all equine care from the most basic procedures (such as sheath cleaning on Tessa's mini mules!) to the most advanced surgical procedures on the most severely injured horses imaginable.

This young horse just won his first Grand Championship. Not long ago, he suffered a catastrophic fracture on his tibia which was successfully repaired by Dr. Vlahos and the team at Yellowstone Equine Hospital!

Dr. Ted Vlahos and his wife Cathy are the heart of Yellowstone Equine Hospital. Dr. Vlahos received his Bachelor of Science (1983), Master of Science (1985), and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (1988), from the Ohio State University. Dr. Vlahos has performed surgery across the globe and is widely recognized as a leader in the development of amputation procedures and prosthetic limbs for the most severely injured horses. He is board-certified as an equine specialist by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, and served two terms on the Equine Diplomate on the ABVP Council of Regents.
In addition, Dr. Vlahos has served on the American Association of Equine Practitioners Professional Conduct and Ethics Committee and was a founding member and Chair of the ABVP Ethics
Committee.

Our surgical center is equipped for all advanced and routine surgeries, including orthopedic, arthroscopic and colic surgery. Connected to our surgery room is a custom padded induction and recovery room, which provides our patients with the safest possible environment.

Our facility also includes a large barn area where we perform examinations, radiographs, ultrasounds, and joint injections. It is equipped with a large round pen and heated intensive care stalls for our patients.

Where you will find the only board- certified equine specialist in the state of Wyoming, Dr. Ted Vlahos. Dr. Vlahos has been providing state-of-the-art equine veterinary care for 38 years. He routinely supports and consults with veterinarians in Wyoming, across the United States and abroad. Horses from 28 states have been brought to our clinic, although the heart of the practice is our local Wyoming community.
