Due to ongoing building renovations, the extreme heat and no shows in Florida till September, we are temporarily halting handling classes till the Monday after Labor Day.

It is with immense sadness that we share that Edna Corney, long time BKC member and our past president, passed away yesterday. Edna was integral in the success of BKC and held a number of officer positions over time. She was great at bringing new people into the sport, introducing children to the world of dogs with her wonderful summer kids camps, she volunteered at all the BKC shows and events, and she was a passionate Keeshond breeder and exhibitor.

The Board and members of BKC extend our sympathy to her family and friends and want them to know that Edna was greatly loved and appreciated. She will be missed tremendously.

I want to apologize to the folks who came to class and had no instructor tonight. We did some trading due to personal and show schedules and I forgot to follow up and ensure we knew who would be covering tonight. I am very sorry for the inconvenience and will ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Is your dog fast? BKC is hosting a FASTCAT event Saturday April 11 and Sunday April 12 in New Smyrna Beach. If you don't know, FASTCAT is a timed 100 yard dash for dogs. Dogs run by themselves down a chute chasing a bag on a lure. AKC even awards titles and certificates and you can get pretty ribbons recognizing your dog's runs. Most dogs love it.
