Your dog’s activity may be restricted during recovery, but that doesn’t mean their brain has to be bored.

Try these 5 low-key enrichment ideas:

Lick — Try a lick mat or stuffed toy
Sniff — Create a simple scent game within easy reach
Think — Turn mealtime into a stationary brain game
Train — Practice calm, low-movement cues
Observe — Give them a comfortable new view or some quiet one-on-one time

The goal during recovery isn’t to keep your dog busy at all costs. It’s to give them safe ways to think, sniff, lick, interact and stay connected while still following their recovery restrictions.

We’re breaking down even more ways to keep your dog mentally stimulated during surgery recovery on the ACC+ blog.

No running. No jumping. Restricted activity.

Sounds simple, until you get home and realize your dog still has energy. So what *can* they do?

Restricted activity is an important part of many recovery plans, but keeping your dog safe doesn’t mean they have to spend every minute bored in bed.

In our latest blog, we break down what restricted activity can look like, what to avoid, and ways to keep your dog safely engaged while following your veterinarian’s recovery instructions.

Your dog had surgery. You have work tomorrow. Now what?

It’s one of the most stressful questions pet parents face during recovery: Can I leave my dog home alone? The answer isn’t always a simple yes or no.

Your pup's procedure, mobility, medication schedule, activity restrictions, bathroom needs, and how closely they need monitoring can all play a role.

Our newest recovery resource breaks down what to consider before heading out the door and when your dog may need a little more support while you’re away.

Recovery is more than rest. 🐾

After a vet visit, pet parents can suddenly find themselves managing a lot—medications, meals, bathroom breaks, activity restrictions, monitoring, and keeping a bored pup safely occupied. And the tricky part? It all has to happen consistently.

Our latest blog breaks down what recovery can look like after your dog comes home and what to consider when you can’t manage every part of their care on your own.

ACC+ was created for that in-between space: when your dog is medically stable and doesn’t need hospitalization, but still needs more support than traditional daycare or boarding can provide.

Recovery is more than rest. It’s knowing what your dog needs along the way. For Pepper, that meant more than keeping her comfortable after ACL surgery. Her recovery included hands-on support like gentle leg massages, assisted movement, careful monitoring, medication management and plenty of time to rest and heal.

At ACC+, every dog’s day is built around their needs, their limitations and their recovery. This is what assisted care looks like. ❤️
