📅🐾 SCHEDULE SUNDAY 🐾📅

Here's something we wish every dog owner knew:

Grooming is not just about making your dog look pretty.

Yep.

The fluffy haircut is the fun part...

But grooming can also give you an opportunity to notice things you might not see during your normal day-to-day routine.

Things like:

🐾 Changes in the skin
🐾 Unusual bumps or lumps
🐾 Redness or irritation
🐾 Overgrown nails
🐾 Ear debris or unusual odor
🐾 Changes in the condition of the coat
🐾 Areas that seem painful or sensitive

Groomers aren't veterinarians, and we don't diagnose medical conditions.

But we're working with your dog's skin, coat, ears, paws, and nails regularly enough that we may notice when something looks different.

Think of grooming as a little "Hey, let's check on everything while we're here" moment.

And if something doesn't look right?

That's when your veterinarian gets the call. ❤️

Your dog's coat might be the reason they came in...

But their overall comfort and well-being are why we care.

🏜️🐾 SMALL TOWN SATURDAY 🐾🏜️

Let's talk about something small towns do REALLY well:

Everybody has a dog story.

You know the kind.

"My grandpa had a dog that..."

"My childhood dog used to..."

"Our old ranch dog once..."

"That dog down the road..."

There's always a story.

And honestly?

Those stories are part of what makes a community.

Dogs have been riding along, working alongside us, protecting our homes, keeping kids company, and being our best friends for generations.

Some of them are still with us.

Some have crossed the rainbow bridge.

But the stories?

Those stick around. ❤️

So today, let's share one.

Tell us about a dog you'll never forget.

It doesn't have to be your current dog.

It doesn't have to be a funny story.

It doesn't even have to be a "famous" dog.

Just tell us about one that mattered.

We'll be reading every single one. 🐾❤️

Because around here, every dog has a story worth telling.

🎉🐾 FUR BABY FRIDAY! 🐾🎉

Every household has one.

The pet who has somehow become...

THE FAMILY ALARM CLOCK. ⏰

Maybe yours:

🐶 Licks your face at 6 AM.

🐱 Walks across your stomach.

🐶 Drops a toy directly onto your head.

🐱 Screams from the hallway.

🐶 Stares at you until you wake up.

🐴 Starts making noise because breakfast is apparently 14 seconds late.

And heaven forbid you hit snooze.

You have now committed a crime against the household.

😂

So today we're asking:

WHAT TIME DOES YOUR PET THINK BREAKFAST SHOULD BE?

And be honest...

Not what time you feed them.

What time THEY think you should feed them.

Because we all know those are two VERY different things.

⏳🐶 THEN & NOW THURSDAY 🐶⏳

Let's talk about something every dog owner eventually discovers:

Your dog has a completely different personality at home.

At home:

"Come here, sweet baby!"

tail wagging

"Who's my handsome boy?"

happy wiggles

"Do you want a treat?"

teleports across the house

Then someone picks up a brush...

Suddenly:

"I HAVE NEVER MET THIS PERSON IN MY LIFE." 😂

Or perhaps your dog is the opposite.

At home they're a complete gremlin...

But the second they're around someone else?

Perfect angel.

Sitting politely.

Acting civilized.

Giving you the look that says:

"See? THIS is how you should be treating me."

😂😂😂

So tell us:

Is your dog better behaved for everyone ELSE than they are for you?

We have a feeling we're about to hear some stories.

🤔🐾 WHAT'S THAT WEDNESDAY?! 🐾🤔

Here's a grooming question that sounds simple...

Why do groomers clean a dog's ears?

A️⃣ Because dirty ears look bad

B️⃣ Because dogs like having their ears messed with

C️⃣ To help keep the ears clean and allow us to notice potential problems

D️⃣ Because groomers secretly enjoy ear hair

😂

The answer is:

C️⃣

Regular ear care can help remove excess debris and allows you to notice things like unusual odor, redness, discharge, swelling, or other changes that may need veterinary attention.

And here's an important one:

Groomers aren't veterinarians.

We can notice something that doesn't look right, but diagnosing and treating ear infections or medical conditions belongs to your veterinarian.

Think of grooming as one more opportunity to keep an eye on your pup.

Because sometimes the little things are worth noticing.

🐾 Clean ears = happy ears.

And happy ears are nothing to turn a deaf ear to.
..

Okay.

That pun was TERRIBLE.

We're keeping it anyway. 😂

⭐🐾 TESTIMONIAL TUESDAY 🐾⭐

Sometimes the most meaningful compliments aren't about how pretty a dog looks after a groom.

They're about how that dog felt.

Kathline K. shared this with us:

"My baby hadn't been groomed in a year. Life happens. They just took to the task and shined her up beautifully. She was happy for days after seeing them. I'm booking appointments for the next few months. So happy they are serving our remote area too. You can tell they like working with the pups!!"

"Life happens."

That part really sticks with us.

Because it does.

Schedules get crazy.

Things come up.

Grooming gets put off.

And sometimes you look at your dog and realize...

"Oops. It's been HOW long?" 😂

No judgment.

Just pups who need some TLC and people doing their best.

Thank you, Kathline, for trusting Dirty Dawg with your girl. ❤️

And to every pet parent who has ever felt guilty because life got in the way:

Give yourself some grace.

Your pup isn't keeping score.

💪🐾 MUTTIVATION MONDAY 🐾💪

Dogs have absolutely no idea how much they're teaching us.

They don't worry about being productive enough.

They don't compare themselves to the dog down the street.

They don't care if their hair is perfect.

They don't wonder if they said the wrong thing yesterday.

They wake up...

They sniff something interesting...

They eat...

They nap...

They play...

And they love their people.

Maybe we could all borrow a little of that energy.

Take the walk.

Enjoy the sunshine.

Eat the good snack.

Take the nap.

Tell someone you love them.

And when life gets a little ruff...

shake it off and keep going. 🐶❤️

Your dog would.

📅🐾 SCHEDULE SUNDAY 🐾📅

Today's grooming reminder comes with a public service announcement:

YOUR DOG DOES NOT NEED TO BE "PERFECT" FOR THE GROOMER.

Seriously.

Does your dog wiggle?

That's okay.

Nervous?

That's okay.

Not a fan of having their feet touched?

Yep... okay.

Have they previously had a bad grooming experience?

We're listening.

The goal isn't to have a dog who walks in acting like they just won Employee of the Month at the grooming salon. 😂

The goal is to work WITH the dog in front of us.

Every dog has their own personality, comfort level, history, and quirks.

Some are professional spa enthusiasts.

Others arrive like:

"I have been kidnapped and I demand to speak to my lawyer." 😂

That's okay, too.

Good grooming starts with patience, communication, and understanding.

So if you've ever felt embarrassed because your dog isn't "easy"...

Don't.

Your dog isn't broken.

They're just being a dog. ❤️🐾

🏜️🐾 SMALL TOWN SATURDAY 🐾🏜️

There's something special about being a pet owner in a small community.

You know the dogs.

You know the people.

And sometimes...

you know the dog before you know the owner's name. 😂

"OH! You mean the big fluffy one that rides in the back of the truck?"

"Yeah!"

"OH YEAH. I KNOW THAT DOG."

That's small-town pet life.

And honestly?

We love it.

Here at Dirty Dawg, one of our favorite things about what we do is meeting the pets that make Southeast Arizona and Southwest New Mexico home.

Every town has its characters.

The porch dogs.
The ranch dogs.
The adventure dogs.
The neighborhood greeters.
The escape artists.
The professional barkers.
The dogs who somehow know EVERYBODY.

And we're here for all of them. ❤️🐾

👇 LET'S PLAY:

Describe your dog WITHOUT telling us their name or breed.

We'll see if the Dirty Dawg community can figure out what kind of character you've got living at your house. 😂

I'll go first:

"Thinks every vehicle that passes the house is personally here to visit them."

WHO AM I? 😂

08/28/2026

🎉🐾 FUR BABY FRIDAY! 🐾🎉

Today we're celebrating an extremely important category of dog:

THE PROFESSIONAL SIDE-EYE ARTIST. 👀

You know the one.

You tell them:

"No."

And they look at you like you've personally ruined their entire bloodline.

You ask them to move.

They sigh.

You tell them it's time for a bath.

Suddenly they don't speak English.

You say "Who's hungry?"

Suddenly they're bilingual. 😂

Dogs may not be able to talk...

…but somehow they have a LOT to say.

👇 TIME TO CONFESS:

What is your dog's signature expression?

👀 The Side-Eye
😒 The Disappointed Look
🥺 The "But Why?" Face
😏 The Guilty Grin
😳 The "I Didn't Do It" Face
🙄 The Full-Body Sigh

Or something completely different?

Tell us what your dog does!

And if you want to drop a picture of that face in the comments...

Well...

We certainly won't complain. 😏🐶
