🛑 Please remember, just because a dog is in a public setting does NOT mean it wants to be touched 👈
I do not appreciate being touched by strangers, but does that mean I shouldn't be in public settings?
Please respect boundaries when it comes to all living things.

🗣 ALWAYS ASK! And when someone says NO, please don't keep going on about how 'You have had dogs for years' or 'All dogs love you' or whatever other reason you have to not accept NO as an answer.

📋 There are SO many situations where dogs don't want to be touched. Maybe they are in pain. Maybe they had a traumatic experience in the past and are scared of people. Maybe they are training. Maybe the human doesn't feel like/have the energy to be chatting. Maybe the dog is a service dog. Maybe the dog just suffered abuse at home and human/dog needed to be anywhere else. Maybe they just want to be left ALONE!

💜 If you TRULY love dogs and want to help them then leave them be, ask, respect boundaries, learn body language, and learn that no means no.

Meet Honey! I know this isn't her face, but I couldn't resist getting a picture of her little tiny mohawk hairs 🤣 She is adorable and doing great adjusting to a new home! However, she used to live outside in a yard with multiple other dogs and was never socialized, so anything beyond the house and backyard is scary for her 😬 We are going to work on short sessions out front of just watching things to help with slow exposure. She is very smart, and definitely has a Beagle nose on her! 💜

For only about 4 minutes of working with Guppy on a hoop, I'm happy at where she is! I am still very much luring, but as you can see in the beginning she was a little unsure about the hoop when it was picked up. I could have done a slower transition, but I know she recovers fairly quickly! This one should be fun!

Brad KNEW I had good stuff in my car when I visited him yesterday, so I found this puzzle feeder that he seemed to thoroughly enjoy 🥰 We attempted this for a small decompression after his somewhat scary walk! I swear this boy has to have some Retriever in him with how much he loves food 🤣 Thankfully, we will find out because someone so graciously donated a DNA kit for him! So excited to see what makes this boy so handsome! 😍

I got to see a special someone today!
I took Brad on a walk around his neighborhood. He is actually lacking a little confidence out in the real world, but it could be because he was found wandering the streets quite often prior to being with his foster ❤️‍🩹 We worked on making sure he was comfortable enough to take food and respond to his name and a couple of very basic things. I also found out that squirrels are an obsession of his 😅 He did do some pulling as you see here and he was tense, but I was very proud of him!

Welcome to the house of a dog trainer, where dogs are allowed to have big feelings 🤣 Even though Ryder's bark is brain rattling, I love how excited they are to see me every time I get home (regardless if it was 15 minutes or 5 hours 🤣).
Is this a bit much for some people?
Probably.
Are there others who might have bigger feelings? Sure.
I'm happy with this so it doesn't really matter to me what anyone else thinks because they don't live here 🤷‍♀️ They still have rules like no jumping on me and no biting your brother, so I'm satisfied! You need to prioritize and pick and choose your battles 💜

We added distance to our 'touch' cue! I think I need smaller pieces of food 🤔 I'm so used to training dogs lol We have also been working a little on sit, but I think it's time to add in something else! My creativity is lacking at times, so if anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to listen! 💜🐱

We didn't train for a couple of days 🤦‍♀️ But I would say she's catching on! Remember, consistency is the biggest part of training ✨️ Get your 5 minutes in today 😉💜
