Happy 13th Birthday to our amazing Jetta Bug! ♥️

Jetta holds a special place in my heart, as all my dogs do. She was our third hunting retriever and was given to us by some very special hunting friends after we tragically lost our Avery.

Jetta is the best girl! She has slowed down a bit, but she still loves getting out in the yard and holding on to her prize while the younger dogs do the retrieving. ❤️

It’s hard watching our dogs get older, but what a blessing from God to have them in our lives for as long as we do. We sure love you, Jetta Bug! Happy 13th! 🐾

Happy 4th Birthday to our amazing Nova & Hawk litter.

Last night, as I was reminiscing about my dogs, I thought about how incredibly lucky I’ve been and all that these dogs have given me. I let go of Frankie twice—first when I rehomed her, and again when she left this earth. Both were hard in very different ways.

Frankie was 11 years old, which is a good long life for a Labrador. Her dam, Addi, is still with us at 13. But as we all know, it’s never long enough.

I feel incredibly grateful for all these dogs have given me over the years. Dog breeding isn’t for the faint of heart, and letting them go is the hardest part.

In the meantime, let’s enjoy our dogs and give them a big fat snuggle. ❤️🐾

I wanted to share some of Frankie’s littermates as a tribute to her life.

Gone, but never forgotten. ❤️

My breeder heart is heavy and saying goodbye is never easy.

It’s with a heavy 💜 heart that I share Frankie crossed over the Rainbow Bridge Tuesday. Carol called me with the news, and my heart just broke.

I found out from the Mapes this summer that Frankie had osteosarcoma. They were gracious enough to let me say goodbye to her. We knew she didn’t have long, and Carol stayed in contact with me, keeping me updated on her progress. Frankie was a fighter and she held on!

Loving Frankie was truly a gift. We had so many good times together — all the walks we took, our road trips to Alabama, and just hanging out on my bed. She was the best girl. All heart and a true warrior. Tough, no-nonsense, and always by my side.

Frankie was my first Ducktown dog and will always have a very special place in my heart. I’m so thankful to the Mapes for loving her and caring for her during her retirement. It was the best decision for her, and she was so happy.

Goodbye, girl. I love you always and forever. ❤️ Frankie - last two photos are of her sire and dam. I’ll share some of her offering another day.
