ADOPT ME: SELENA

You may have seen Selena’s sister, Alena. Now meet Selena.

Both are gorgeous dogs, but both are still learning to trust humans.

Selena hasn’t come as far as her little sister. She will accept pets, but she doesn’t seek them out quite as much.

But when she gets outside the kennel, she will find any excuse to lay near you.

She has discovered that tennis balls are interesting, and she is trying to figure out how to play with one when you roll it by her.

She seems to LOVE other dogs. That will likely be the thing that helps her the most. Walking by other kennels, and playing with her sister are the only time she acts like a puppy.

Selena has tons of potential.

She just needs an adopter willing to stick with her to see that potential blossom.

This is what rescuing a dog looks like.

Please come meet her.

ADOPT ME: ALENA

Alena came in with four other dogs that were neglected and unsocialized.

None of them knew what human touch was, and they all were too terrified to let anyone get close.

One of them has been adopted, but he wasn’t ready to jump in a stranger’s car so we had to drive him to his adopter’s house.

His adopter was a very special person. We need more people like her.

We need someone like her for the three that are left.

This is Alena. She is one of those three.

She has come the farthest. She absolutely adores pets and affection now…more so than treats.

But she only loves affection from the few that have had time to spend with her.

She’ll need an adopter with patience, but she’ll be worth the effort.

She is a wonderful little dog that wants to come out of her shell. She just needs some help to do it.

Come meet her if you think you might be that person, if not maybe you know someone who is.

It will take a community to get these dogs adopted. We love these dogs, help us share that love and find them adopters.

Start with Alena.

ADOPT ME: ATHENA

Athena is shy when she first meets you, but once she gets to know you, she can’t wait to be with you again.

She needs a little patience and calmness, but she quickly rewards you for having both.

If you have those qualities, come meet her. She can’t wait to reward you for it.

ADOPT ME: ZEUS

Zeus may have the most beautiful coloring of any dog in the shelter right now.

He also has one of the sweetest personalities.

You would never know he was kept in terrible conditions before we got him.

He is the definition of why dogs are better than humans.

Come meet him.

He deserves someone that will spoil him as a reward for being such a good boy despite never being treated that way.

ADOPT ME: LUKE

Little Luke came to us because his older owner said he was too much for her.

We have found him to be a very sweet dog, who really loves whoever he is with.

He is missing a little bit of hair, but that will grow back. Even if it didn’t, it wouldn’t matter, because he’s a great little dog with or without it.

ADOPT ME (AGAIN): KING

King has been here before.

The first time he was adopted, the adopters loved him and said he was perfect…but they decided they wanted a dog they could breed with their female dog.

So King came back because he was neutered.

His second adopter kept him for quite awhile but returned him because he had separation anxiety.

We don’t want to see King come back again. It’s not fair to him.

He deserves a loving home, that just can’t get enough of him.

German Shepherds are a very popular breed for a reason. King is a shining example of why.

He’s a big boy. But he’s also a very good boy.

Come meet him. If you’re not a German Shepherd fanatic, you will be after you spend some time with King.

ADOPT ME: SALSA

Meet the mom of all our taco cats.

This spicy mama is a part of our barn cat program.

Working cats, such as barn cats, are not typically suited to being indoor pets. These independent felines prefer to roam and hunt in outdoor environments working for you, hunting mice and other pests. To be eligible to adopt a working cat you must be able to provide a period of confinement for at least two weeks, but longer is better, to help them acclimate to their new surroundings. During this time, they can adjust to the idea that your property is their new home base where they can work to keep pests at bay. You must provide them with safe shelter that protects them from harsh weather conditions and potential predators. They should be fed once daily and have constant access to fresh water to keep them healthy and happy. These diligent workers will earn their keep by naturally controlling pests on your property, making them valuable allies in maintaining a pest-free environment.
