We'd like to welcome Bennett and Stetson into the rescue! These 2 sweet whether goat brothers came to us due to their owners needing to make an emergency move. They are about 4 years old and have lived in the same home together their whole lives. They are both incredibly friendly. Bennett does most of the talking while Stetson would prefer to relax and take a nap. They've fit right into our Sanctuary herd, but they will be available for adoption together as a pair soon! Stetson needs to have a very minor procedure to remove a scur horn growth from his head, but other than that these boys are in perfect health and will be a wonderful addition to someone's family!

Meet the newest *feathered* addition to the rescue! This sweet, but timid Quaker parrot is looking for a home with a patient owner that will take the time to get to know him. We're calling him Sammy, but he doesn't know it yet so the naming possibilities are endless! Sammy will come with a medium sized cage on a stand, and some food and supplies to start out! He does have a reasonable adoption fee (well less than half of what you would pay for just a parrot at a pet store, much less a cage too). Sammy is fully flighted, but is learning to step up onto a hand. He does not seem to be a biter, but would definitely not be a good pet for children at this time. Sammy also would not be suitable to be caged with another bird at this time either. He likes his personal space and will be easier to bond with his owner while he is by himself. He is used to being caged in the same room as other birds, so he is not afraid of their noises!
Sammy does have some slight beak maintenance. He does not naturally trim his beak on his own, so he needs occasional trims! This is a very easy procedure that we can show his new owner how to do, or any exotic vet can preform routine trims.
*first picture is what his beak looks like when routine trims are not preformed. The next 2 pictures are what he looks like now!

Theo made it to his new home! He was however thoroughly unimpressed with the trailer ride there and gave his adopted parents quite the fit😅 but once he got there we were so happy to hear that him and Gertie have been getting along great! Hopefully there won't need to be many trailer rides in his future! Happy tails sweet boy!

We'd like to introduce everyone to Theo! Theo is a sweet Shetland pony gelding who found himself in a not so great situation with his donkey friend. Unfortunately his friend had untreated injuries that were not sustainable for life. This left Theo on his own. Thankfully we were able to move quickly to get this sweet boy to the rescue.
Some of you may remember Gertie the donkey who was adopted from us back in 2024. She had been living a wonderful life until tragically losing her pony friend recently in a horrible barn fire.
Sometimes good things are able to come out of tragedy, and we're so excited to say that Theo will be going to his new home this weekend where hopefully he and Gertie will become the best of friends. His new parents are so excited to get him home and we hope they are able to continue to heal after losing their cherished pony and find new love and happiness with Theo.

Every horse owner knows the panic and danger that colic brings. Last week, our boy Preacher started really not feeling well on Wednesday evening. He was lethargic, sweaty, and not willing to eat. Thankfully he was not trying to lay down and roll. We were able to get him safely inside the barn to further evaluate him.
We were able to get him some much needed pain relief and he slowly started nibbling at some very soupy food and drink small amounts of water. Since we were able to get electrolytes and water in him orally, he did not have to be tubed. He's still very thin and weak and the thought of having to sedate him worried me immensely. We monitored him closely through the night and the next morning he was pooping and seeming a little brighter. Our vet came and checked him out and said it seemed like he was out of the woods.
This week, he has slowly been regaining his strength and is feeling much better!
This is why it is so important to check on your horse's as often as you are able. Their condition can drastically change in just a few hours. At 7pm Preacher was completely fine and eating his dinner. By 11:30pm he was absolutely miserable and very sick. Talk to your vet and make sure you have a plan in place and know the signs of colic! It can be fatal without quick treatment!
Please excuse all the mud on his blanket, it rained a ton here and he seems to quite enjoy a mud bath.

Got a small load of supplies out into the community last week to feed some critters! We always take donations of any kind of pet food/treats and if we aren't able to use them here at the rescue, we make sure to get them out into the local community for animals who need them!

We hope everyone had been enjoying the nice weather this past week before the cold makes a comeback! Here's our sweet Preacher enjoying some sunshine and a good roll. We're so proud of this tough boy! He's doing great and getting stronger every day. He's no where near iut of the woods yet, but so far so good.

Our sweet boy Preacher has been safe and snug in his stall through the snowstorm. This tough boy is still fighting! He's doing absolutely as good as can be expected right now. He's eating everything we put in front of him and is so loving everytime someone comes down to the barn. We can wait to be able to offer him more food soon and see this wonderful boy start to gain a little weight.

All the animals here are doing well. Some are enjoying the snow and others... well they're busy wishing that tomorrow was spring. But everyone is warm and fed and that's what matters! Enjoy some pictures of the equimes out in the snow!
