Vet’s volunteering to help our our country kids w/making sure their animals are healthy, bred (if in those classes), and trimmed up etc and ready for show! A healthy animal is a happy one!

It’s Curry County NM Fair time! Stars and Stripes themed I honor of our 250! Dr. Dixon and Dr. Scott (in the orange jumpsuit) were out there this evening lending a hand, or an arm, wherever needed. Come by and say hi! The puppy is here too! The public is welcome to come walk through, but please don’t touch the animals. The kids have worked super hard to get hair just right, perfectly adjust their feed and water, etc, and need to keep their animals healthy. There are livestock shows going on all throughout the day every day this week except Fri and Saturday. We want these animals (and the kids) to shine in the limelight! Honestly, these animals take a lot of devotion, care, love, expense, planning, and, literally, an average minimum for them of 3-4 hrs a day getting ready for these shows. It’s hard work but an incredibly rewarding experience and helps shape great character. Good luck kids!

The ticks seem to have “bloomed” over the past two weeks ya’ll! Please use flea and tick prevention on your dogs, cats, cattle, small ruminants year-round here in Clovis. We have mild winter days or weeks and those nasty parasites are still around AND they move indoors! Also, you do not want those lil’ suckers (miniature vampires) around you or your children! Ticks carry major diseases and can cause lifelong and life threatening diseases and complications from diseases for our pets, livestock, and humans.
Ask your vet about the best products for your situations.

There’s so much to post right now! But, I have to skip a few and will go back to them. But, I have to share Dr. Dixon’s new baby puppy with y’all! Finnegan will be out at the fair next week with him if y’all want to see him, or Dr. D. Dr.. Scott and l will also be there. Her doing lots to help with the veterinary side of the show animals and also for her kids who are showing pigs this year! Me, with my kiddos showing production heifers and goats this year!

The Hillcrest Zoo fennec fox pups came to visit us yesterday for a check up! (Kimber and Jayden got some sweet cuddles!). They’re new at our zoo so go check them out!
Dr. Lori Scott (not pictured) loves being the Hillcrest Zoo vet here in town! Plus, she works with us here at CVH! She gets to bounce around to see lots of different species!
