High Plains Humane Society

High Plains Humane Society "THE GREATNESS OF A SOCIETY AND ITS MORAL PROGRESS CAN BE JUDGED BY THE WAY ITS ANIMALS ARE TREATED." As part of the program, each pet is spayed or neutered.

High Plains Humane Society works in Curry County and the surrounding areas to reduce animal cruelty, exploitation and neglect. We advocate for sensible public policies that bring forth positive changes in our community, and we educate the general public on the importance of being responsible pet owners. We are constantly striving to make this world a better place for our furry friends, and we netw

ork with other organizations who share our beliefs. Sterilization is the key to solving the region's over-population and excessively high euthanasia numbers. To provide affordable spay/neuter options to low income community members, who could not otherwise afford this service, we partner with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and their staff to provide quality care for each pet. Additionally they are given important vaccinations to prevent illness and the spread of disease, and a microchip to assist in getting a pet back home if it ever becomes lost. To facilitate this we bring in low cost vet clinics, and low cost and free vaccine clinics. At our facility animals adopted from the Clovis Animal Shelter, and the community feral cat program are sterilized and vaccinated. We donate the use of the building and medical equipment for this use. We also maintain a pet food pantry to assist families in times of need to feed their pets through the crisis. We do not currently house animals.

The June 2–3 Spay & Neuter Clinic is now full.
If you applied but did not receive an appointment, there is still a small chance we may have a last-minute opening due to a cancellation or no-show. If we have an opening, we will call applicants on the list and offer the appointment to the first person who answers their phone and is able to bring their pet in. If contacted on short notice, your pet must not yet have eaten that day in order to participate.
Thank you to everyone who applied. We know there is a tremendous need for these services, and we hope to bring another clinic to the area soon. Please follow our page for future clinic announcements and opportunities.

We know spam calls are frustrating and most of us ignore unknown numbers, but please answer your phone if you have signed up or are waiting for registration information. We may be trying to confirm your pet’s appointment or provide important clinic details. Several people have told us that the calls are showing as spam, so please pick up your spam calls for the next couple of days. You can hang up on anyone if they aren't us. 😂

Thank you for helping us serve more pets in our community! 🐾

What an incredible turnout! 🐾
A total of 914 animals were vaccinated, microchipped, or both, with 1,722 vaccines administered!
• DAPPv and HCP-1 vaccines provided by Petco Love
• Rabies vaccines provided by High Plains Humane Society
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
• If you live in Clovis and your pet received a rabies vaccine and microchip, be sure to register them at the animal shelter. Your microchip now serves as your city license.
• If you're from Portales, take your proof of rabies vaccination to the animal shelter to obtain your city license.
• If your pet was microchipped at the clinic, don’t forget to register the chip. It’s the key to getting them home safely!
Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this event such a success! ❤
These events are not possible without our amazing vet, our team, and the volunteers, who stayed hours past schedule to make sure no one was turned away.
