🐔 A LITTLE UPDATE FROM MARGARET’S ROOST! 🐔

Well, we told y’all we were “back… kind of” — and we meant it! 😂❤️

We’re slowly getting back into the swing of things here at Margaret’s Roost, and we wanted to let everyone know what we currently have available.

🖤 BLACK AUSTRALORP PULLETS & COCKERELS (10 weeks old)
We still have a few females and cockerels available from our current batch. These were hatched and raised right here on our farm and are ready for their new homes!

🥚 BLACK AUSTRALORP HATCHING EGGS
We have Black Australorp hatching eggs available regularly for anyone wanting to hatch their own. Our Australorps are a breed we absolutely love for their production, temperament, hardiness, and ability to do well free-ranging.

🐤 PHARAOH QUAIL HATCHING EGGS
We also have Pharaoh quail hatching eggs available for those wanting to add quail to their homestead or start their own little flock!

We’re keeping things small and manageable as we ease our way back into the farm life we’ve loved for so many years. We may not have everything under the sun available like we once did, but what we do have is raised with care right here at home. ❤️

🐔 WE’RE BACK… KIND OF! 🖤🐔

After raising and selling chickens since 2013, our little hobby farm has been pretty quiet over the last several years. Between the rising cost of everything after COVID, raising our family, and just life in general, we had to take a step back from hatching and selling our birds.

But… we’re slowly making our way back! ❤️

We currently have a small batch of Black Australorps that we hatched and raised right here on our farm. They are approximately 8 weeks old, healthy, happy, and coop-ready! 🐥➡️🐔

We have around 25 available, and they will be FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE.

For those who remember our farm from years ago, you may notice that we're doing things a little differently this time. For the foreseeable future, Black Australorps will be the ONLY breed we are offering.

After raising and working with many different breeds of high-production egg layers over the years, Black Australorps have become our personal favorite. In our experience, they have excellent egg production, wonderful temperaments, do great free-ranging, and they've proven to be surprisingly good at staying out of trouble when it comes to predators. They’re just an all-around fantastic homestead bird. 🖤🥚

We're going to take things slowly and start offering small batches here and there rather than jumping right back into raising multiple breeds and large numbers.

Check out our feature on Queen City News! We are disappointed at not being able to bring all our wonderful customers' spring sale dates, yet we hope to be able to have some in the fall. 🐔🐥

The bird flu and inflation are coming together to drive up the cost of egg prices all over the country.

We have unfortunate news this season and will not be having spring sale dates. Due to the news of avian bird flu the hatcheries are sold out for months in advance and we were unable to get chicks in for spring sales. The prices have skyrocketed for everything including the chicks themselves, feed and typical supplies for raising the chicks the way we want to. Keep an eye out here on our page for future updates. We are sorry for any inconvenience yet hope you understand at this time. Thank you
