Good morning! I can't believe that it is already September.
We are still waiting to get into the new building. There has been progress, but as everything on the mountain that involves scheduling contractors, it is slow going.

As a reminder.......we are still doing vaccinations, medication refills, a**l gland expressions and certain kinds of scheduled exams by appointment in the mornings. Please call the regular number (575-682-2645) to schedule. Phones are answered in the mornings. When we call you back, it will be on a "unknown" or blocked number but it is us. Tere is leaving messages for those who don't pick up in fear of a spam call. ;) We have also started a surgery list to get people in when we are up and running.

Thank you for all of your support and patience. We are trying to still serve our wonderful clients and stay afloat as we navigate this weird time.

TIMBERON VACCINATION CLINIC!!
Still heading out for the annual Timberon Vaccincation Clinic Saturday, August 22, 2026. 9am-noon

*If you need a refill for your pet's regular medications, please let us know Friday or before 7am Saturday so we can prepare and bring it. Leave a message at the normal number 575-682-2645.

*As the clinic is "temporarily homeless", we will bring the basics but not much extra ("which bin did we pack that in?).

*We will arrive a little early to set up our computers so thanks for being patient.

Looking forward to seeing all our great Timberon clients!

Good morning! Just a general update for the clinic.......
* We are officially out of the old building
* We still don't have a move-in date for the new building
* The phone number still works - 1-575-682-2645 - Please call with questions or needs.
* We are meeting people (scheduled) for exams, nails, a**l glands, vaccinations, medication refills, etc. We have not quit, it just looks different right now.
* We are scheduling meet-ups (appointments) M-F in the mornings only.
* We have a surgery wait list for when we are in the new building - please call and get on if you know you will need something coming up in the next month or so.

Thank you for all your support and help during this transition. We have the BEST clients, community and friends ever!! We couldn't do it without you.

And don't forget..... We have 2 kittens and 2 adult cats up for adoption still. They are currently living in Dr. Green's guest room. They would love a new forever, indoor home.

Update on the building:
* Yes, the owners of the building the clinic is in have decided to sell
* We have been given a deadline of July 31st to be out
* We have been looking for another building to lease since last year with no luck
* This month we finally found a place to move the clinic into but it is not yet finished (flooring/walls/etc).
* This means that there will be an unknown amount of lag time from moving out of the current location and into the new location
* We plan to keep the phone lines open and can refill medications for our patients
* We plan to figure out how to continue to do the smaller things (annual exams, shots, a**l glands, nail trims, etc.) in the interim
* We will keep everyone posted on what is happening as we have updates to give.
* We have started a list of people to get back to when we are fully up and running again
* We are not leaving, retiring or other rumors you may have heard
* We may ask for help moving when the time comes
** Thank you all for your patience and kindness during this bump in the road!!!

Good information on their website. And I like the “be informed, not alarmed” statement.

Good information on their website. And I like the “be informed, not alarmed” statement.

It's possible to encounter a blow fly that looks strikingly similar to the New World screwworm fly. Animal owners should first be on the lookout for larvae in wounds and be aware of potentially suspicious flies around living flesh second. Report suspicions to the New Mexico Livestock Board immediately.

Official identification of a fly or maggot requires confirmation by a diagnostic lab in coordination with animal health professionals, so it is important to contact the relevant authorities to confirm species identification. For the latest New World screwworm information for New Mexico, visit ScrewwormNM.org.

USDA Continues to Lead Coordinated Response to New World Screwworm; New Case Confirmed in La Salle County, Texas
WASHINGTON, D.C., June 9, 2026 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), alongside State partners in Texas and New Mexico, continues to lead an aggressive response to New World screwworm (NWS) in the United States.

USDA’s National Veterinary Services Laboratories confirmed a new case of NWS in a calf in La Salle County, Texas, bringing the total cases of NWS in the United States to five. USDA is working closely with the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) to respond and further investigate the case. The joint federal–state field teams have already expanded surveillance and response measures in the area.

NWS poses a serious threat to livestock, pets, wildlife, and in rare cases, people. The larvae feed on living tissue and can cause severe wounds, animal suffering, and significant economic harm if not detected and treated quickly. Quick detection, treatment, and reporting are vital to safeguarding livestock, wildlife, and pets.

USDA and TAHC are conducting a coordinated response that includes:

Joint epidemiological investigations and case tracing
Additional surveillance, testing, and trapping in the affected areas
Releasing sterile insects and adjusting these operations as needed for the most effective coverage
Conducting outreach to animal owners
Ongoing coordination with local officials, veterinarians, ranchers, and community partners
Guidance for Animal Owners and Veterinarians
The MOST important thing animal owners can do is to know what to look for and how to report suspected cases of NWS. USDA urges everyone in the area to check animals for:

Draining or enlarging wounds
Maggots or egg masses
Signs of discomfort
Lesions in body openings (nose, ears, genitalia, umbilical area)
Anyone who suspects a screwworm infestation should immediately contact their veterinarian, state animal health official, or USDA. Early reporting is essential to ensure animals receive prompt treatment, so they fully recover.

Though rare in people, anyone who notices a suspicious lesion should seek immediate medical care.

Food Safety
The U.S. food supply remains safe. NWS does not infest meat, fruits, vegetables, or other food products. Any affected animal would be identified during USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service inspection, and no contaminated product would enter commerce.

Additional updates and resources are available at Screwworm.gov.

Just to address some rumors we've been hearing.....
No -I am not retiring (unless I win the lotto jackpot).
Yes - the building we are in is being put up for sale soon by the owners. We will need to relocate and are interested in finding another building in town for a long-term lease. Or, if you want to buy it and allow me to keep the practice here let me know.
Thank you all who have supported me for these 20 years in this location.
