This little lady, now named Thumbs, recently got adopted from Carlton County Animal Rescue and came in for a bath to start off her new life!

She's got 26 total toes, which is an extra 8!

Thumbs absolutely knows that makes her extra cute. 🖤

Your dogs become a part of our lives when we see them regularly. I have dogs on my grooming books that I have seen consistently throughout my career. On a recurring schedule for years. Because of that, I learn their personalities and get to see what makes your dog special. That consistency in my schedule leaves a pattern in my heart.

Other groomers will know what I'm talking about when I say we have an internal clock for when we should be seeing your dog walk through our doors. "I feel like Fluffy's appointment should be coming up...." I check my schedule, and sure enough, she will be here in three days. We get so used to seeing them on a regular interval that when we don't, we *feel* it.

I have gotten more of those heartwrenching calls or texts in the last two months than in my entire career put together. Dogs that I've seen for years passing of old age, or unexpectedly far too young. And while I don't pretend to feel the emptiness in the same capacity as you do, I feel it in my own way.

I would be lying if I said I haven't cried in my car after getting that text, or immediately called my husband to share my greif. He knows who I'm talking when about when I mention your dog's names. We talk about them. Their personalities, their quirks, their goofiness... how I've watched their bodies slow down, along side you as an owner.

There are dogs I fear I won't see again as they walk out my door, and if I get that feeling, I've always made sure to give them an extra special goodbye.

I don't see them daily as you do, but they are a part of my life.

And when they are gone, I think of them often and I miss them. I miss them so dearly.

I love it when an owner hands me their dog and says, "do what you want!"

I'll never take that trust for granted, and it's always a fun time. 💜

Meira's ✨️toxic trait✨️ is that she has selective hearing. So we help her out sometimes. 🤣

Her entire personality is german shepherd, but her ears do their own thing.
