Molly is a sweet, but fierce, girl that would love a home with humans, cats or other creatures EXCLUDING dogs. For some reason, Miss Molly has a hatred for dogs that originates from something deep within her soul. It doesn't matter the size or the temperament of the dogs. She HATES them all - and not in a way that makes her hide - in a way that makes her vicious. She is all fight and no flight.

To humans, though, she is sweet as can be. She loves a good scratch and a snuggle and appreciates all the treats you're willing to give. She will give small nibbles on fingers to show you who is boss. (It's her.)

If you're looking for an outgoing and bossy cat to rule your home, she's the one for you!

🐢💚 Leonardo & Donatello! 💚🐢

These adorable 5-month-old mixed breed pups (perhaps lab/pitty mix) brothers are ready to find their forever families! They've both received a handful of apps and are still waiting for their adopters to find them!

Leonardo and Donatello each have their own unique personalities, but they share the same love for fun, adventure, and snuggles. They’re playful, affectionate, and eager to learn, making them wonderful companions for active families.

FREE for Carlton County and/or Cloquet residents

We received an app for these two earlier this week and were excited!!! Unfortunately the applicant is no longer able to move forward with adoption for personal reasons. Let's find these boys their home (or homes!).

Let's get some long-timers into their homes before the calendar rolls into August! 115 days in our care, for young cats who are not mean, do well around other cats, don't seem to mind dogs or kids that can respect their space.

Eugene and Walter might not be tiny playful kittens, BUT they are still young dudes with full lives ahead of them, at roughly 18-24 months old. Eugene and Walter are not related to our knowledge and are not necessarily bonded, however both would ideally like to have a feline friend, so when the humans in the their new home has to go to work, or school, or run errands.. they aren't lonely.

They came from a home with more than a dozen cats present and were shy at first, but are some of the friendliest felines you could meet. If you're willing to be patient and give them time to warm up to you, they will warm your heart for years to come.

We try to keep our adoption fees low to help get animals into homes, while also making sure we can cover our operating expenses. For any app that comes in by 7/31 that leads to an adoption for one or both of these boys, we'll drop the adoption fee down an age bracket so it's $125 for Walter and $150 of Eugene, or $250 together. They have been hanging out in the Petsmart Adoption Center and their time is up to move back to a foster home if they don't find their forever homes this week.

Let's feature some fabulous felines on this Friday afternoon! MAMA cats!

Every mama cat comes in with their own personality which often changes through the process of nursing their babies and seeing them go off to their forever homes while they wait for their turn.

Some mamas are a bit scared, some a bit sassy, some do well with everyone and some don't want to share attention or space with anyone. There's a mama cat out there that could be just the right fit for you!

Kit- friendly- adventurous- wants to be able to go outside but loves the attention of people and the comforts of a home.

Freyda- talkative and sweet, mostly laid back. Good with other cats and kids.

Cactus- loves to follow you around and wait patiently for food/treats. Has done well in a home with other cats and kids, and has been fine with dogs as well as long as they respect her boundaries.

Zaria- slow to warm up, wants to pick her person and not have a loud stressful environment, loves to be pet and brushed when she wants to be, and will let you know when now is not the time!

Lily- passive and shy at first, a bit fiesty with new people in new situations, has done well in foster home with adult dogs and other cats.

Molly- she's sweet and full of personality. She can NOT stand dogs. They are her arch nemesis. Don't even talk to her if you're a dog person. She's disappointed in you.

National Mutt Day celebrates mixed-breed dogs and promotes their adoption, observed annually on July 31 and December 2. Why twice a year? Why not?! Mixed-breed dogs make up an estimated 80% of dogs in shelters and are worth celebrating!

One of the most common questions we are asked, that we rarely have a very good answer for, is: "what breed?" The reality is that we rarely know the genetic makeup of mom or dad and often haven't even had a chance to see/meet the parents to know their size or possible breed characteristics. DNA is quite fascinating and we're so interested when adopters share DNA results they've received.

National Mutt Day was established in 2005 by animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige to raise awareness for mixed-breed dogs in shelters and encourage their adoption.

There's nothing wrong with being a "mutt" or a "mixed breed" and in fact there are so many advantages with unique qualities of mutts, including their diverse personalities, health benefits, and often longer lifespans compared to purebred dogs.
