🐾 MEET SMITH & WESSON 🐾
These two sweet boys, approximately one year old, were found in Missouri. People in the area said they had been hanging around for about two weeks and had been helping by feeding them. They were staying near a very busy highway, and I was so afraid that one or both of them would be hit. We brought them safely back to our campsite, kept them overnight, and then brought them home to Illinois.
In only 48 hours, Smith and Wesson have already come so far! They went from not understanding that a car ride could be a good thing, not knowing how to use stairs, and having very few manners around food—to conquering every one of those challenges. They rode quietly in the back of my SUV for five hours and never made a peep.
The smaller boy weighs approximately 30 pounds, and the larger boy weighs about 40 pounds. They have received baths and their vaccinations, and they are now waiting to be neutered. Even though being inside appears to be new to them, neither boy has had a single accident since arriving!
They are beginning to learn how to play, enjoy being indoors, and accept the love and attention they may never have experienced before. They don’t really know their new names yet, but they are learning quickly and showing us just how sweet and special they are.
We kept them with us at the campsite for more than 24 hours, and they never once tried to run away. Because of that and the circumstances in which they were found, we truly believe they may have been dumped.
Smith and Wesson are currently safe at Four Paws Salon and Retreat. We are accepting donations to help cover the cost of having both boys neutered and completing their veterinary care. Every contribution, no matter the amount, would be deeply appreciated.
Our greatest hope is to find them a wonderful home together. However, we understand that may not be possible, and we will consider separate homes if they are the right homes for each boy.
They would love having room to play, but they will not be adopted as outside-only dogs. They are learning to enjoy being inside and deserve to become loved members of a family.
If you are interested in adopting Smith or Wesson—or helping with their veterinary expenses—please contact Four Paws Salon and Retreat. Serious, loving and committed homes only.
Please share and help us give these deserving boys the happy ending they’ve been waiting for. ❤️🐶🐶
