The habits that protect mobility later start early. Keeping your dog at a healthy weight takes real load off the joints. Consistent moderate exercise builds the muscle that supports them. Traction on slippery floors prevents the slips that add up. And catching a subtle limp early gives you more options than waiting until it is constant.

If your dog is slowing down on walks, hesitating at the stairs, or taking longer to get up, bring it up with us. There is usually more we can do than people expect.

Pumpkin precautions! 🎃

A lit jack-o'-lantern at floor level is right at nose and tail height. Curious pets get singed whiskers, burned paws, or knock the whole thing over. Cats jumping onto porch railings and windowsills are especially good at finding them.

Flameless LED candles give you the same glow with none of the risk, and they last the whole season.

One more note: carved pumpkins go moldy fast once they sit out, and a pet who chews on one can end up with an upset stomach. Toss them when they start to soften.

Our technicians monitor anesthesia, take radiographs, run bloodwork, place catheters, manage pain, restrain gently, and talk you through discharge instructions when you are too worried to absorb any of it. Most of the care your pet receives here passes through their hands.

😈 Someone got into a bit of trouble while his mom was unloading groceries!

🍇 Grapes can be highly toxic to dogs, and this guy ate 2 lbs of them!

🙏 Thankfully, Dr. Cosgrove was able to induce vomiting on Buoy and avert disaster.

😉 Also, just in case you think our job is always cuddling puppies and kittens… sometimes it’s pulling grapes out of vomit and weighing them to make sure we got them all. 🤣
