🐾 “But it’s JUST a treat!”
Famous last words. 😂
We love spoiling our pets. Honestly, they’ve mastered the art of looking just pathetic enough to convince us they deserve another snack.
But those little treats can add up—FAST. 🍪🦴
For a 10-pound dog, a few extra high-calorie treats can be the equivalent of a person eating several extra meals every day. 😳
And carrying extra weight isn't just a cosmetic issue. Being overweight can increase the risk of:
⚠️ Arthritis and joint problems
⚠️ Diabetes
⚠️ Heart and respiratory problems
⚠️ Reduced mobility and stamina
⚠️ Increased surgical and anesthetic risks
⚠️ A shorter, less comfortable life
So… does that mean NO treats?
Absolutely not! We aren't monsters. 😂
Instead, choose treats wisely and keep portions small. You can also use part of your pet's regular daily food as treats, or offer lower-calorie options like carrots or green beans when appropriate. 🥕🫛
And remember: those calories count too! 👀
If you're not sure whether your pet is at a healthy weight—or you're wondering how many calories they should be getting each day—ask us! We can help create a weight-management plan that keeps your pet healthy without completely ruining their social life. 🐶🐱❤️
Because apparently, “I’m on a diet” is not an acceptable answer when someone has the face of a Labrador asking for cheese. 😂
