Shorin Ryu is my oldest dog. I adopted him as a puppy back in 2014 when I was in the middle of depression and addiction. He is my "why" to why and how Dalmatia BnB was ever possible. He has been giving me therapy through all my ups and downs in life since then. I went through a period of time when I had a huge fear of dogs. I overcame that through taking him to training classes and being around other dogs in class and dog parks. I never understood why or how people could love a dog. We took in strays all my childhood but I never bonded with any of them. I always questioned how a dog could be a member of a family. It was so foreign to me. I fell in love with Shorin. He helped me heal and get clean. I had to get into a routine with him and take him potty and feed him. I had to get out of bed to care for him. I had to train him and take him for vet care. He taught me about the human dog bond. I love him so much! I don't know where I'd be without him.
His name comes from the style of karate my boys learned, Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu. We call him Shorin.
He doesn't get mentioned much. He's always here in the background. We call him the Sheriff because if two dogs start playing too rough he will break them up. He used to love to herd dogs and people. His favorite game is fetch but he also loves a game of tug! He's a loving grand dad to all our Dalmatian pups and friend to all the dogs and people who come through our doors.
But if he hears numbers, he goes nuts! Lol!
