I cannot say enough good things about Rebecca! Her knowledge, experience, compassion, and genuine dedication to helping dogs are truly remarkable.
We first met Rebecca because of Marty (formerly known as Daemon at the shelter), a dog who had become very shut down after everything he’d been through. Rebecca had voluntarily gone to the shelter, at their request, to evaluate him—something she does on her own time and at her own expense simply because she cares about these dogs. She then graciously agreed to meet us at the shelter to help introduce Marty to our resident dog, Mavis.
After bringing Marty home, we hired Rebecca for an in-home training session. I was becoming increasingly concerned that Marty had resource-guarding issues, particularly with toys, his leash, and even blankets. I was fully committed to adopting him, but honestly thought we might have to accept that he simply couldn’t have toys.
In one session, Rebecca completely changed my perspective.
With her obvious experience and ability to read canine behavior, she encouraged me to consider that what I was seeing might not necessarily be resource guarding, but could also be related to a dog who wanted to play and had never had consistent guidance or boundaries around toys and other objects. As I’ve continued to observe Marty since our session, that perspective has helped me better understand his behavior.
Rebecca showed us how to communicate with him clearly and consistently, including teaching him when to release something, and I was absolutely amazed at how quickly Marty learned! It was incredible to watch.
Rebecca also recommended three five-minute training sessions each day, and that advice has been incredibly valuable. After putting it into practice for just a few days, I can see how thoughtfully she tailored that recommendation to both Marty and me. Those short sessions keep us engaged, make training feel manageable, and have already helped us build consistency and confidence together.
What I appreciate most about Rebecca is that she doesn’t just train dogs—she teaches people how to understand their dogs. She didn’t simply give us instructions; she explained the why behind what we were seeing and what we needed to do differently.
Marty is a dog who deserved a chance, and Rebecca has played such an important role in helping us give him one. I’m incredibly grateful for her generosity toward shelter animals, her patience with us, and the knowledge she so willingly shares.
We’ve already scheduled our next session with Rebecca and fully intend to continue working with her. I genuinely look forward to learning more from her as Marty continues to grow and gain confidence.
