Kiseki Horse Rescue

Kiseki Horse Rescue Kiseki is the Japanese word for Miracle, and that is what so many equines around the world need, their own miracle.

Kiseki's mission is to enable horses at risk to thrive through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and community outreach programs.

So many people have been asking what happened to Aurora …. Well here she is, still kicking and clawing her way to recovery, and this lady is one tough cookie! Thanks a million for your donations towards her purchase and care – we're still hungry for more, so keep them coming!

To the person who abandoned Shi Shi, we want to let you know that this beautiful, loyal, and spirited mare, who arrived with us in July 2024, passed away this week, leaving behind a legacy of love that will forever inspire. When she arrived at our sanctuary, her age over 35, we made a promise to shower her with the fierce love and devotion she so rightly deserved, ensuring she'd never be alone in her twilight years. Though we may never fully comprehend the reasons behind your decision to leave her behind, we hope knowing Shi Shi was loved to the end will guide you toward healing. To anyone caring for an aging horse facing challenges or feeling overwhelmed, please hold on to hope and never abandon them, instead call a rescue. Fortunately, Shi Shi found her way here but sadly, many horses aren't as fortunate and face uncertain futures. May Shi Shi's memory ignite a spark of compassion and motivate us all to action, as she now runs free, untethered and without pain.

Day 3 of Aurora being home 🙂. Aurora is eating, drinking, and curious about her new surroundings, thanks to the expert UC Davis refeeding guides and alfalfa every four hours - because who doesn't love a good meal? She's adapting to the Shelterlogic, though she's currently enamored with being outside in the rain, which is completely normal for a prey animal like herself. We would of course be overjoyed to see her embracing the comfort of the soft stable mats and shavings in the shelter - we mean, who wouldn't want to hang out in a cozy bed? The boys' company is clearly a highlight for her, and she's remarkably unafraid of the umbrellas, a testament to her resilient spirit. We eagerly await our vet's visit for a thorough check-up, which will hopefully bring more promising updates. Until then, here's a glimpse of Aurora's journey to Kiseki, waiting for the ferry.

We know it’s been a while since we last shared an update, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. Recently, we had the opportunity to witness an auction in Enumclaw on Sunday, and we were deeply moved by the plight of a beautiful mare who deserves a second chance. We estimate her price to be around $600, and there’s another horse that also touched our hearts. We’re reaching out to ask for your support to help us bid on these incredible animals. Our goal is to raise around $1000 to bring at least one horse home and provide the necessary veterinary care. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to making a difference. Today was a big day for Cuyler and also for our long term fosterer Steve, who has been caring for Cuyler since the beginning. Care included maintenance for a skin infection, eye infection, bringing him back up to a healthy weight, and giving him lots of love. It is folks like Steve that make this possible. Thank you Steve, you are amazing!
