We have already confessed to this crime, but we figured we'd share it publicly too. Way back in February we stole the denim patches off of our table at the BARK Gala....because, you see, they make the perfect eye patches for these cows with corneal ulcers. We used our first stolen "eye patch" today and this girl is on the mend!

So, thanks BARK for helping the cattle of Bosque County too!

We get it. Your dog is adorable, fluffy, and looks like a giant teddy bear. The human urge to wrap your arms around them and squeeze is almost impossible to resist!

But here is a little secret from the vet world: While we love hugs, most dogs just... tolerate them. 😬

Is your dog a "Hug Hater" or a "Cuddle Bug"? Next time you go in for a squeeze, pause and look for these subtle "Stress Signals." They might be whispering (or shouting) "Please stop!":

👀 "Whale Eye": You can see the whites of their eyes (looking sideways). 👅 Lip Licking: Flicking their tongue when no food is around. 👂 Pinned Ears: Ears slicked back against their head. 🗿 Stiff Body: They freeze up or lean away from you. 😐 The "Kiss to Dismiss": Licking your face aggressively to get you to move away.

"But my dog loves it!" Some dogs do love it! Every pup is unique. But many are just being polite because they love you.

We want to know! Is your dog a HUGGER 🫂 or a HANDSHAKER 🤝? Tell us their personality type in the comments below!

If your dog or cat’s kisses aren’t so sweet lately, it could be more than just stinky breath. Discolored teeth, tartar buildup, or gum irritation are often signs of dental disease, and just like in people, untreated dental issues in pets can lead to pain, infections, and even problems in other organs.

At Clifton Veterinary Clinic in Clifton, TX, our experienced team provides professional dental cleanings designed to protect your pet’s comfort and long-term health. During a cleaning, we gently remove plaque and tartar above and below the gumline, examine the entire mouth, and use dental X-rays when needed to catch hidden problems early, all while your pet rests comfortably under safe anesthesia.

A healthy mouth means a healthier, happier pet with more energy, better appetite, and pain-free smiles for years to come. 💙

📞 Give your furry friend the gift of a healthier smile, call us today at (254) 675-8925 to schedule their dental cleaning or consultation.

Forget the roses and the fancy dinner reservations. 🌹 The purest, most scientifically proven form of love might actually be waiting for you at your front door, wagging its tail.

We all know we love our pets, but did you know there is a biological reason why?

🧪 It’s called the "Oxytocin Feedback Loop." Research has shown that when you gaze into your dog's eyes, your brain releases oxytocin (the "love hormone"). But here is the amazing part: Your dog’s brain releases it too! 🧠✨

⚠️ A Quick Vet Valentine Reminder: While we want to spoil them, remember to keep the chocolates (xylitol/cocoa) and bouquets (especially lilies for cats!) far out of reach. The best treat you can give them is your time (and maybe a pet-safe cookie!).

Who is your Valentine this year? 🥰 We want to see those faces! Post a photo of your "Furry Valentine" in the comments below and tell us their name! 👇

Ever had a terrible, stressful day, and your dog or cat just knew? They come over, nuzzle your hand, or drop a toy in your lap right when you need it most. 🥺

It feels like magic, but it’s actually biology!

Here is the fascinating science: Our pets are master observers. They can actually smell the rise in cortisol (the stress hormone) in our sweat and breath. Plus, they are experts at reading our micro-expressions and body language. Basically, you can’t hide your feelings from your furry best friend! 🕵️‍♂️🐾

It’s no wonder that 22% of U.S. households are now seeking Emotional Support Animals. We are realizing that our pets aren't just roommates; they are powerful healers.

The "Pet Effect": Just petting a dog or cat for 10 minutes can: ⬇️ Lower your cortisol levels ⬆️ Boost oxytocin (the love hormone) ❤️ Lower your blood pressure

So, the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, don't hesitate to take a "cuddle break." It’s doctor’s orders! 😉

Imagine if you went three years without brushing your teeth... yikes, right? 😬

Here is a shocking truth: By the time they blow out the candles on their 3rd birthday cake, 80% of dogs already show signs of dental disease. It is the number one health issue we see in pets, and it often goes completely unnoticed by loving owners!

Why does it matter? It’s not just about "doggy breath" (though that’s a big clue!). 🤢 That stink is actually caused by bacteria. If left unchecked, that bacteria doesn't just stay in the mouth, it can cause pain, tooth loss, and even affect their heart and kidneys.

The good news? It is almost entirely preventable! 🦷✨

Your pet can't tell you when their tooth hurts, so it's up to us to be their dental detectives. 🕵️‍♀️🐕
🗓️ Schedule a dental exam and protect more than just their smile, protect their life.

Did you know that dental disease is one of the most common health issues in pets, and it often goes unnoticed? 😬

February is Pet Dental Health Month, and it’s the perfect reminder that a healthy mouth can mean a longer, happier life for your furry best friend. 🐾

Plaque and tartar don’t just cause bad breath (though… yikes 😅). When left untreated, dental disease can lead to pain, tooth loss, and even affect vital organs like the heart, liver, and kidneys.

The good news? 💡
With regular dental checkups, professional cleanings, and simple at-home care, you can help protect your pet’s smile, and their overall health, for years to come.

This February, let’s give those tails more reasons to wag and those purrs more reasons to rumble. 📞 Schedule your pet’s dental check today and invest in a healthier future, one smile at a time!

Let’s face it: The moment you realize the gate was left open and Fido is gone, your heart drops into your stomach. 💔 It is literally every pet parent's worst nightmare.

But before you spiral, we have some seriously good news backed by science (and a recent PetPlace deep dive) to help you breathe a little easier! 😮‍💨

📊 The Stats Don't Lie: According to studies, 93% of lost dogs are eventually reunited with their families! Even better? Most are found within the first two days.

📍 They Are Closer Than You Think: We often imagine our dogs running off on a cross-country adventure, but the data shows 70% of lost dogs are found within just ONE mile of their home. (In fact, 42% are found less than a block away!). They are likely just sniffing a neighbor's bushes! 🌳

The ""Secret Weapon"" for a Fast Reunion? It’s the microchip! 📲 Dogs with microchips have a 70% return-to-owner rate, compared to just 30% for those without. It is your pet's permanent ticket home.

Be honest, when was the last time you checked if your pet’s microchip contact info was up to date? 🗓️ Take 5 minutes today to log in and double-check it. It could make all the difference!

Most people think a wagging tail = a friendly dog… but that’s not always true.
Dogs use their tails like emotional antennas—and learning to read them can help prevent misunderstandings, fear, and even bites (especially around curious kids at home).

Here’s a quick visual guide to what your dog’s tail might really be saying:

🔴 High, stiff wag:
“Back up. I’m alert, unsure, or not comfortable right now.”
This is not a tail you want to approach—especially for children.

🟡 Low, fast little wag:
“I’m nervous, curious, or trying to figure things out.”
Give them space and let them come to you.

🟢 Loose, full-body wag or helicopter spin:
“Hi friend!! I feel safe, relaxed, and SUPER happy to see you!”
This is the ultimate green light for affection.

Understanding tail language helps protect both dogs and families—because safety starts with communication. 🐾💛
