Today, August 28, is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. ❤️🐾

A day to remember ALL the pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and the pawprints they left behind.

This one hits especially close to home for Wounded Paw Project®.

Last Friday, we lost Kane, one of the original five WPP OGs. And by pure coincidence, today—the day we remember those who have crossed—we picked up Kane’s ashes and brought him home.

Last year, we lost Daisy “Rainbow.” The year before, Bella.

Today, we remember them, the other WPP OGs who have crossed, and every beloved pet whose absence is still felt.

Kane, Daisy, Bella, and all our WPP OGs—you will forever be in our hearts, and you continue to “Save PAWs.”

And to everyone remembering a pet today, we remember yours too.

Sometimes two stories meet long before we understand why.

Today, we introduce you to Lazarus.

His story began in West Texas under circumstances no animal should have survived.

But Lazarus survived.

And then there is Noah.

Noah is remembered as a force of love and light—a young Soldier whose kindness, compassion, humor, and ability to make others feel they belonged continue through the lives he touched.

A Soldier named Noah.
A survivor named Lazarus.

Two very different stories.

Or perhaps not.

Over the coming weeks and months, Wounded Paw Project® will take you with us as Lazarus begins the next chapter of his life—through healing, training, challenges, milestones, and eventually, a journey with a purpose we aren't ready to reveal just yet.

There is a reason for the Ark.
There is a reason for the tomb.
There is a reason for the light.

For now, remember two names:

Noah. Lazarus.

Their stories are only beginning to meet.

Purple Heart Day

Today, Wounded Paw Project ® honors the brave men and women who were wounded or killed in combat while serving our nation.

The Purple Heart is America's oldest military decoration, tracing its origins to General George Washington's Badge of Military Merit, established on August 7, 1782. Today, it remains one of our nation's highest symbols of courage, sacrifice, and service.

Our Co-Founder, Ernesto P. Hernandez III, is a Purple Heart recipient. His journey of healing—and the unconditional love of a rescue dog named Daisy—inspired the creation of Wounded Paw Project ® and our mission of Helping on Both Ends of the Leash™.

Today, we remember those who never came home, honor those who continue to carry visible and invisible wounds, and thank the families who have stood beside them through every step of the journey.

To every recipient and your loved ones: Thank you. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
