Rural veterinary medicine: where an unexpected wardrobe change is always a possibility! 😂

A messy surgery had Dr. Hartfield trading her scrubs for coveralls. Thankfully, a pair was handy!

Today’s clinic fashion: practical, durable, and ready for whatever comes next. 🐾🤠

If your pet had a job, what would it be? 😂

Professional snack inspector? 🍪
Head of neighborhood security? 🚨
Couch quality control? 🛋️
Full-time fence repair supervisor? 🐄
Director of knocking things off counters? 🐈

Drop a picture of your pet and their job title below. We want to meet your hardest-working—or hardly-working—employees! 👇🐾

🐾 Help us get the full picture!

When your pet isn’t feeling well, the details you notice at home help us during their visit.

📝 When did the problem start?
🍽️ Any changes in eating or drinking?
💩 Any vomiting or changes in bathroom habits?
💊 What medications, supplements, or preventatives are they taking?
📱 Have a video of an unusual cough, limp, or behavior? Bring it along!

Your observations matter. You know your pet best, and we’re here to help put the pieces together! ❤️

According to your pet, we are guilty of:
🐾 Taking their temperature without permission
🐾 Interrupting a perfectly good nap
🐾 Saying, “Let’s check your weight”
🐾 Providing an unacceptable number of treats 😂

We accept these charges—and we still love our patients!

🦟 Heartworm prevention is a year-round job.

It’s easy to think about mosquitoes in the summer and forget about prevention when fall arrives. Staying consistent helps protect your dog throughout the year. This is also a good time to check that your pet’s flea and tick protection hasn’t lapsed.

Unsure when your pet’s next dose is due? Call your clinic and we’ll help you check.

🐈 Cat fact: a quiet cat isn’t always a comfortable cat.

Cats can show that something is wrong through small changes: hiding more, grooming less, avoiding favorite jumping spots, or acting differently around the litter box. You know your cat’s normal routine best.

If something seems off, give us a call at 918-358-3404. We’re happy to help you decide whether it’s time for an exam.

Today on News on 6, we talked about one of the hardest decisions we face as pet owners: euthanasia. ❤️

There’s no easy way to say goodbye to a beloved pet. We discussed quality of life, how to recognize when your pet may be struggling, and how your veterinarian can help you make a compassionate decision.

If you’re facing this with your own pet, please know you don’t have to work through it alone

Veterinarian Dr. Rebekah Hartfield explains the three signs pet owners should watch for, what happens during euthanasia and what options are available afterward.
