Building Achilles: Bite Development, Control & Balance

Teaching a protection dog to bite is only part of the job.

Achilles is developing confidence and commitment in his bite work, but we're also developing something just as important: a dog capable of remaining balanced, responsive and under control in the real world.

That's why this video doesn't end with the sleeve. You'll also see Achilles calmly working with his owner in a public park, around other people and everyday distractions.

A protection dog shouldn't be a wild, uncontrollable dog looking for something to engage. He needs the ability to assess his environment and respond appropriately.

When a Board & Train dog goes home, the first thing we do is test the dog… while we train YOU.

We start by teaching the dog to stay focused while the owner moves around without becoming distracted. At the same time, we teach the owner how to handle the leash without letting the dog’s movements or presence distract them.

Small baby steps. Big results.

A successful Board & Train yes is about what your dog learned with us—it’s even more about what YOU learn and how to stay consistent with them when you take them home. That’s how training lasts a lifetime.
