STRAY DOG SUNDAY | KENNEL #138 🐾

This guy has been roaming the area of E. 32nd Street and Payne Avenue in Cleveland’s Asia Town for WEEKS.

Our officers have been keeping an eye out, working to locate his favorite spots and figure out the best way to safely get him to safety. Today, that hard work paid off! We were able to safely trap him and finally get him off the streets. 🐶🙌

Now he’s safe with us, but we know there may be someone out there looking for him!

🏡 Do you recognize him? If you or someone you know has been missing a dog in this area, please check our lost dog listings.

💔 They didn’t ask to be here.

Look at the faces of the stray dogs we pick up every day. So many of them look sad, confused, and scared. They don’t understand why they’re here. They don’t know why they’re in a kennel instead of at home. And somewhere in their minds, they may still be wondering when their owners are coming to get them.

They didn’t ask to be here.
They don’t want to be here.
And honestly, we don’t want them to be here, either.

But here they are. 💔

Behind every kennel door is a dog who deserves to feel safe, loved, and wanted. Some will be reunited with the families they know and love. Others will wait for someone new to come along and give them the life they deserve.

Until then, we will keep showing up.

We will continue to pick up lost dogs, bring them somewhere safe, provide them with care, and hope that their owners come looking for them. And when they aren’t claimed, we will hope they get their second chance through City Dogs Cleveland.

This isn’t always the happy part of animal control. It’s the heartbreaking part. It’s seeing the confusion in their eyes, knowing they don’t understand why their world has suddenly changed.

But these dogs deserve our care, our patience, and our compassion, even when their stories break our hearts.

We can’t change the circumstances that brought them here, but we can make sure they aren’t alone while they wait for what comes next. 🐾❤️

Please microchip your pets, keep their identification up to date, and never give up looking if your dog goes missing. And if you’re thinking about adding a dog to your family, please consider adopting through City Dogs Cleveland.

Every dog deserves to be home. ❤️
