🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🐾

At WPAH, we believe that everyone deserves to feel welcome, respected, and supported—both in our hospital and in our community. This month, we celebrate the diversity, strength, and joy of the LGBTQ+ community while reaffirming our commitment to creating an inclusive space for all people and their pets.

🐾 Furbaby Friday Feature 🐾

This week we're featuring Sonia, an absolutely adorable kitten who was just under 12 weeks old when she came in for her very first kitten visit. 😻

Sonia was a complete sweetheart from the moment she arrived and quickly stole the hearts of our entire team. With those tiny paws, curious eyes, and sweet personality, it's safe to say she made quite the impression!

During her first kitten exam, Sonia got off to a great start on her preventive care journey. She received her first FVRCP and FeLV vaccines, a deworming treatment, and underwent routine screening testing, which came back negative. We also sent out a f***l sample as part of her comprehensive kitten wellness care.

The first few months of a kitten's life are an important time for building a foundation for lifelong health, and Sonia was a perfect patient for all of it. 💕

We can't wait to watch this little girl grow and see her back for her booster vaccines in a few weeks!

🍩🐱 Happy National Donut Day!

This kitty may be rocking a "donut" of a different kind, but it still seemed fitting for today's celebration! 😄

While human donuts should stay off the menu for pets, we're taking today as a reminder that sometimes our furry friends have to wear the cone of shame after surgery or an injury—and that's actually something worth celebrating. Why? Because it means they're on the road to recovery! 💙

Whether your pet has worn a traditional cone, an inflatable collar, or a donut-style recovery collar, we know they somehow manage to make it both adorable and dramatic at the same time.

Here's to healing, happy pets, and maybe a donut (for the humans) today! 🍩🐾

☀️ Summer is quickly approaching, and with it comes warmer temperatures that can pose a serious risk to our pets.

Dogs and cats can overheat much faster than many people realize—especially during walks, outdoor playtime, car rides, or even relaxing outside on hot, humid days. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can develop rapidly and become life-threatening if not addressed right away.

Knowing the warning signs can make all the difference. Excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, bright red gums, or collapse are all signs that your pet may be struggling with the heat.

If you notice any of these symptoms:
💧 Move your pet to a cool area immediately
💧 Offer cool (not ice-cold) water
💧 Use cool, wet towels on their body
💧 Contact your veterinarian right away

As temperatures continue to rise, be sure your pets always have access to fresh water, shade, and plenty of opportunities to cool down.

🐾 When in doubt, it's always safer to assume your pet is too hot and take action quickly.

Did you know secondhand smoke can affect pets, too? Exposure to to***co smoke can increase the risk of respiratory problems, asthma, and even certain cancers in both dogs and cats.

Pets are especially vulnerable because they spend so much time close to us—and they can also ingest harmful residue while grooming their fur.

Creating a smoke-free environment helps protect every member of the family, including the four-legged ones we love most. 💙

This week’s Furbaby Friday star is Ein, an almost 16-year-old Corgi who recently celebrated an incredible milestone—her 200th rehab water therapy session! 🎉🐾💖

While Ein isn’t able to move around on her own as well anymore, hydrotherapy has helped keep her muscles active, supported her mobility, and allowed her to continue enjoying life to the fullest. Her determination and sweet spirit inspire all of us every single visit.

Of course, a milestone this special deserved a celebration fit for royalty! 👑💕 Ein enjoyed her very own princess party complete with a crown, pink tutu, a special ice cream treat, and even a victory lap around the hospital in her stroller.

We are so proud of this amazing girl and grateful to be part of her journey. Here’s to many more princess parties, therapy sessions, and happy moments ahead, Ein! 💙

🌼🐾 May is Asthma & Allergy Awareness Month 🐾🌼

Just like people, pets can suffer from allergies and respiratory issues, too. From itchy skin and ear infections to sneezing, licking paws, and chronic discomfort, allergies can have a big impact on your pet’s quality of life.

Common triggers can include:
🌱 Pollen & environmental allergens
🦴 Certain foods
🪳 Fleas
🏠 Dust and mold

If your pet seems extra itchy or uncomfortable this season, don’t ignore the signs. Early treatment and management can make a huge difference in keeping them happy and comfortable. 💙
