There’s something special about starting a prospect on cows. When a young horse first starts to understand the job, you get to see how they think, how they move, and how they handle the pressure.

It’s still early. He is still learning, but he’s showing the kind of talent, quiet confidence, and natural ability that you hope for. The kind that doesn’t need to be forced — it’s just there, and it comes out a little more each time you ride.

He’s athletic, willing, and has a good mind about him. The kind you enjoy getting on and taking your time with.

We feel lucky to have him and are looking forward to watching him develop.

Finally getting around to looking back at a show from a few weeks ago.

I’m really proud of this group. Not just for the placings, but for the effort, the growth, and the willingness to keep improving. That’s what matters most, and it showed across the board.

Petra Slay and Bettin Ona Cat put together a very consistent show. She showed up prepared, stayed focused, and it reflected in every class. They finished strong with multiple second-place finishes and an All Around Reserve Champion in the Amateur, which is a great reflection of steady, correct work.

Alexandra Haugan and Smart Lena Rocks have put in a lot of time since last year, and it was clear how much progress they’ve made. She has worked hard on both herself and her horse, and it paid off in the pen. Winning the cow work and finishing All Around Reserve Champion in the Novice Amateur is something to be proud of.

Andrea Sweeny and Scootin Starlight stepped into the show pen for the very first time. That’s always a big moment, and they handled it well. It takes courage to get out there, and this was a great start to build from.

Joseph Thomas and WDJ Grand Man Criss have only recently decided to start showing, and they’ve been putting in the effort to get there. It’s good to see that commitment start to come together, and they did a solid job.

Jack Fi**en and Blue Beard Frost continue to make progress each time they go out. Improvement like that comes from consistency, and it’s good to see it paying off.

Our youth riders also stepped into the show pen for the first time, and I couldn’t be more proud of them. Amelia Rose Konecny and ComeOnBabyLiteMyFire, and Cate Thomas and Nu Holli Wood have been working hard on their horsemanship, and it showed. This is just the beginning for them, and they’re headed in the right direction.

Grateful for a great group of people who show up, put in the work, and support each other.

Finally getting around to looking back at a show from a few weeks ago.

Really proud of these horses and thankful for the owners who trust us with them. It’s always special to be a part of their journey and watch them step up in the show pen.

Bet Im Twinklin stepped into the show pen for the very first time and came out winning the Open Ranch Cutting. This is a young mare we’re really excited about, and she continues to show more each time we ask her.
Owned by George and Sue Egalite — grateful for the opportunity to work with a mare like this.

RS Shootin For Chex, a 6-year-old stallion in his first show with only about six months of training, stepped up in a big way.
He won the Cow Work and Ranch Trail, and finished 3rd All Around in the Limited Open.
Really proud of how he handled himself.
Owned by Amanda Jones.

Chics Got Your Six, a 4-year-old mare, stepped into the Open Junior Horse for the first time and didn’t miss a beat.
She won the Reining and finished 4th All Around in the Open Junior Horse.
A big step up, and she handled it with confidence.
Owned by Ben and Charlotte Thorpe.

Grateful for the horses, and the people behind them.

Looking forward to what’s ahead.

Watching this little filly lope across the pasture feels pretty special.

Just a few days old and already floating across the grass, swapping leads.

Seeing a foal like this run across the pasture reminds you why you breed horses in the first place. The hope, the possibilities, and the dream of what they might become someday.

We’ve started calling her Ainsley around the barn. The registered name will come later, but for now this one seems to fit her just fine.

She’s by Tapt Dancin Cat and out of BJO Shesa Tule Acre. A cross we’ve been very excited about for a long time.

Some foals just feel special from the start, and this little filly already feels pretty close to perfect.

We are excited to watch Ainsley discover the world — one lead change at a time.

‼️We just picked up 15 head of fresh cows for our upcoming clinic‼️

Our next Solomon Horsemanship Cow Horse Clinic is coming up April 11, and with a fresh set of cattle it’s shaping up to be a great opportunity for riders.

Fresh cows mean a little more life in them, so this clinic will likely lean a bit more toward riders and horses ready to step up their game.

Spots for riders are limited, so if you’ve been thinking about coming, now is the time to grab a spot.

Looking forward to a great day of horses, cattle, and good people!

Last night was a long one — the kind where you sit in the barn watching and waiting, knowing a special little life is about to arrive.

Just after midnight, this beautiful filly finally made her way into the world.

Her mama, BJO Shesa Tule Acre “Tuli,” did an incredible job. She even waited for us to get home from the weekend show before deciding it was time.

From the moment she stood up, this little filly showed plenty of personality — sassy, determined, and already a carbon copy of her mama.

Her papers really need no introduction. She is by Tapt Dancin Cat, a full brother to Dont Look Twice, and out of BJO Shesa Tule Acre, by San Tule Freckles and out of an own daughter of Bob Acre Doc.

This filly was bred for ourselves, she’s here to stay and she’ll be a big part of the future of our program.

For now, we’re just enjoying the first day of her life and getting to know her. Something tells me she’s going to keep things interesting.

A little introduction to Bet Im Twinklin, a 3-year-old mare by Bet Hesa Boon.

We have some exciting plans for this mare and are looking forward to developing her and seeing just how far she can go.

This is only the beginning — looking forward to sharing her journey along the way.

What’s it like to work with young prospects, you ask?

Some days they feel like the next great one.
Other days they feel like they can’t focus on anything long enough to escape from a wet paper sack.

That’s the fun part of the job. Under all that reaction is feel, athleticism, and a whole lot of potential. You don’t dull that down, you shape it.

I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

First rides on a couple of Sannman fillies, both out of Dual Rey daughters with earnings, and they are already showing why that matters.

They came in very quick-footed, sensitive, and unsure how to build a relationship with people. But day by day, they’re learning to slow down, soften, and trust. The kind of change that comes from consistency and clear communication.

Their breeding gave them the athleticism, now it’s about giving them the foundation to reach their full potential. We are grateful to Britt Farm Quarter Horses, for producing performance horses with this kind of natural ability. Excited for their future.

This is what we like to see from a young one.

Mind, heart, and athleticism - Cattafox has it all. Calm, trainable, and personable, he's the kind of stallion that's enjoyable in the barn and rewarding under saddle.

Built right, trained right, and enjoyable every step of the way — the kind that makes progress feel easy and the future exciting.
