This Sunday!

It’s September which means the best event of the year is only a few weeks away. I’ll be vending and doing nail trims, spot shaves, brush outs, paw pad trims, anything quick and convenient. Don’t forget to bring your senior dog to join in the festivities and dress them up in the best costume they have for the costume contest!

Are you ready to meet the most charming, hilarious, and adorable little guy ever? Say hello to Gizmo! This 8-9 year old sweetheart is looking for a new home due to circumstances beyond his control, and I just know he's going to bring so much joy to his new family. Gizmo's got it all - he's fixed, chipped, p*e pad trained, and has a heart of gold. He's a bit of a scaredy-cat when it comes to going outside, but don't worry, he's working on it! Gizmo gets along great with cats, but his dog skills are still a mystery, although he was in a dog hoarding situation. And yes, he does need a teeth cleaning - but who doesn't love a good dental adventure? If you're ready to add some laughter and love to your life, Gizmo's your guy! Just ask me anything, and I'll give you all the deets on this lovable little man.

The severity of mats. Mats are more than just a tangle in your dogs coat. A lot of people are unaware just how detrimental a mat is. Here is some knowledge on mats that will be quite the eye opener.
1. Mats pull on the skin.
2. They harbor bacteria, dead skin, debri and can smell.
3. They can create sores and wounds underneath.
4. Mats in the paw pads or armpits can change your dogs gait.
5. They are painful just existing. Creates bad blood circulation and can cause the blood to rush back to that area when removed. Hematomas. Bruising.

Removing mats:
1. Removing mats by brushing them out takes ALOT of time. And therefore costs more money.
2. Brushing them out still damages that hair.
3. Cutting them out can be dangerous especially if done by a non professional and will leave holes in the coat.
4. Clipping them out is still a lot of time, stressful and painful as the mats are pulled and tugged. It takes a very close (short) cut to get underneath mats to get them out. About 1/4 inch of coat will be left or bald spots.
5. When your dog needs the groomer to remove mats they are not set up for success. It is far more difficult to remain calm, comfortable and cooperative

Millie Bobby Brown, best known for Stranger Things, has traded Los Angeles for life on a farm in Georgia. There, she shares her home with more than 60 animals—dogs, horses, cows, sheep, and even a blind donkey. In addition, she runs her own animal shelter, where she currently cares for another 23 dogs.

Armed with a pet microchip scanner, Brown has helped rescue over 230 dogs. Each time, she first checks whether the dog is lost and can be reunited with its owner. If no match is found, the dog finds a safe haven at her shelter. Among the animals she cares for are a rottweiler, a golden retriever, a Great Dane, and an 18-year-old blind dachshund named Rigby. Rigby had been abandoned on the roadside, and Brown took him in believing he was near the end of his life.

“I thought he didn’t have long left—he’s blind and couldn’t find his way around,” Brown shared. “But now he’s jumping on my couch and has found a new lease on life.”

Beyond her rescue efforts, the British actress uses her platform to champion animal adoption and inspire others to give abandoned pets a second chance.
