I cannot rest in the pasture without little Natalie coming up to me for a good scratching. Her mom is such a beauty I cannot wait to continue to watch you grow up

Mama Dyms is feeling much better after a 2 day colic episode of not feeling well. Weather changes can cause colice, staying calm while you help them feel better is so important as horses can feel your emotions as well. When you are stressed and panicking they will feel it and feed off of those emotions which can make them hurt more.

One of the worse things to walk into when your getting ready to turn mares out. Quick thinking and staying calm while you monitor is important.

First step is critical! Check water buckets and hay to note the intake over what period of time. Checking for fresh poop-if you found some pop a nugget open to see if the inside is wet or dry, last is to note the current conditions (laying, rolling, biting, going up and down)

The course of action I took
Getting her up, checking gum color, temperature, walking 10-15 minutes, checking gut sounds before and after walking. Then we hard tied in the arena away from food; but giving her water if she needed to drink. While tied up I watched her for and hour to see if she produces a bowel movement (she did). Then I gave her a little banamine and made an electrolyte and salt paste and gave her some more time watching her for another hour. She might have been having tummy pain from baby kicking or moving around that made her uncomfortable but I still contacted the vet and we are monitoring until she is checked.

Sorry ive been away, social media is hard some times. I run out of idea's for content. Its also been raining for the last week so there really isnt much happening over here. Comment some idea's youd want to see on this page to help me out a little!
