Please BEWARE!!
We have found out there are people using our name and photos without our permission to scam others.
How to search for legit USDA licensed breeders:
https://aphis-efile.force.com/PublicSearchTool/s/
Scroll down to (what are my search options) then the second option is (inspection reports) this is where you click the blue text that says inspection report.
It will bring you an inspection report search.
The search you want to do is name only so you have to get their name or business name. (don’t worry I’ll be able to tell you how to verify this is the legit person)
Put in their name or business name only. You need to ask them for the exact name that is on their license. (If they refuse then you are dealing with a scammer! However, the scammers are also using other peoples licenses, so if they agree to give you their name or business name, then continue by during the following:
The inspection report link is going to bring up a list of licensed individuals with that name. However, these can be licensed, previously licensed or lost their license. So, if you find someone with an active license under the name that they gave you and here is the next step:
So the next thing you want is their license number. It’s also called a certificate number. The number they give you should match the number next to their name.
If you suspect a scam, ask them to provide their address. Then IF you find the name and the certificate number that they have given you scroll over and check the address, all of this information must be up-to-date and you could even go as far as ask for a copy of their drivers license, but I wouldn’t tell them what you were doing if you suspect a scammer. I have seen scammers send fake USDA licenses and fake drivers license to people because they don’t realize how easy it is to look it up. Once we looked it up, we saw that it was a license that had been expired like 10 years ago and of course there was no address remotely like the fake address that they sent.
A lot of people don’t know it is this simple to check them out unless you are a USDA breeder. You wouldn’t necessarily know this information.
Of course always check that. It says active and not canceled or expired.
We are always here to help and don’t like Scammers we do everything in our power to keep others protected from these people.
