RECIPE MONDAY
: Apple Cinnamon Pup Donuts
A Taste of Fall for Your Best Friend!

Ingredients

1 cup oat flour
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
1 egg
¼ cup finely grated carrot
1 tablespoon natural peanut butter — xylitol-free
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1–2 tablespoons water if needed

Optional “Frosting”

Plain unsweetened Greek yogurt
A tiny sprinkle of cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix the applesauce, egg and peanut butter. Stir in the carrot and cinnamon, then add the oat flour. Add a little water if the batter is too thick.

Spoon into a lightly greased silicone donut mold and bake for about 15–18 minutes, or until set. Cool completely.

For an extra-special treat, spread a little plain Greek yogurt on top and add just a dusting of cinnamon.

Keep refrigerated and use within about 3–4 days, or freeze the unfrosted donuts.

CAT CLINIC!** We will be having a low-cost Cat Spay & Neuter Clinic, here at the SPCA. The Clinic will be held on Friday, October 23rd. Male cat vouchers are $45 each and Female cat vouchers are $65 each. Spots are limited and are first come, first served. You can stop by the office any day we're open, between the hours of 10am-4:30pm to purchase your spot. You cannot purchase your spot over the phone. We are closed Wednesdays and Sundays. Are your pet(s) updated on their vaccines and/or do they have a microchip? If not, PAWS is here to help!
This Thursday, September 17, from 4–6 p.m stop by PAWS for our low-cost vaccine and microchip clinic!

We’ll be offering vaccines on a first-come, first-served basis, so please plan for a possible wait during this high-volume clinic.

A few important reminders as you plan:
• The clinic is weather-dependent since portions take place outdoors. Extreme heat or inclement weather may result in cancellation, so please check our website and social media for updates.
• If your pet needs a 3-year rabies vaccine, please bring proof of their previous rabies vaccination.
• Our vaccine clinics cannot provide documentation required for international travel.

RECIPE MONDAY: Cozy Chicken & Sweet Potato Pup Stew

Perfect for those cooler September evenings!

Ingredients

* 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs
* 1 medium sweet potato, peeled & diced
* 1 carrot, peeled & sliced
* ½ cup green beans, chopped
* 3 cups water or unsalted broth
* ½ cup plain cooked brown or white rice

Directions

Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and place it in a pot with the sweet potato, carrot, green beans and water or safe broth.

Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 20–25 minutes, until the chicken is completely cooked and the vegetables are tender.

Stir in the cooked rice and simmer for another few minutes. Let it cool thoroughly before serving.

For a thicker “stew,” lightly mash some of the sweet potato into the broth.

🐾 Simply Scoopers Tip: Freeze individual portions so you can pull out a cozy little topper whenever there’s a chilly evening.

Serve as an occasional treat or topper, not as a replacement for a complete and balanced diet.
