Humane Society of Barbour County - Alabama We are the Humane Society of Barbour County, Alabama (HSBC). We are located in Southeast Alabama. HSBC was founded in 1994 by Hank & Joy Bryan of Eufaula, AL.

Joy Bryan believed it is our responsibility to help those who cannot help themselves. We strive daily to do just that by the way we care for the dogs and cats of Barbour County. Our Shelter Director, Tara Polli, is dedicated to making HSBC the leading animal welfare resource in Barbour County. She ensures our shelter follows the animal sheltering guidelines while focusing on finding homes for our

sheltered pets through adoption and transport rescue. She is able to do this with the support of Mellissa Howard and Amy Green, the Animal Care Specialists, who help with the care of the shelter animals daily.

I would like to personally thank every donator and supporter of the Humane Society of Barbour County for the love and support that you have given over the years. I’m sorry to say that unfortunately the doors are permanently closed now and the animals of Barbour County will have to be tended to by others. I hope no one dumps anymore animals out there as there will no longer be people there to take them in. It is so very sad.

I would like to thank with all my heart, Jo Vaughn, who was given a very, very short time frame to perform the miracle of finding our animals a place to be safe so they didn’t get euthanized. I would like to also thank with all my heart Anna Shepard with Southern Souls Animal League who jumped into action even though her shelter is full, her employees are exhausted and her funds are low. These ladies are working magic right now to prevent euthanasia of animals that were cared for with a lot of love. I would like to thank Mallory Brown with Holding Hope who reached out immediately and offered any help that was needed.
Most of all I would like to thank my husband and daughter who have worked along side me at the shelter all these years and stood by me thru all the literal blood, sweat and tears.

Please, if you were a supporter of the Humane Society of Barbour County, consider supporting Southern Souls Animal League, Holding Hope Rescue or our new rescue in the area Muttley Crew. Please do not let what happened to us happen to another rescue. Rescues need funds, volunteers and support to run smoothly. None, like us, get any kind of county, city or town funding. It is up to us to support these rescue and help the animals.
