Our team had such a wonderful day at Tanganyika Wildlife Park outside of Wichita this weekend! As a gift for Vet Tech Week, Dr. Susan treated us to the whole trip, and we’re so grateful. 💕

We saw so many amazing animals, including famous little ones like Milani the baby giraffe and Mars the baby hippo. We got to watch kangaroo care, meet the zoo vet, and feed lots of animals. We were even lucky enough to get a behind the scenes tour with Tanganyika's Chief of Care, Jess, and see some cool animal training they do to help aide their veterinary care.

We petted goats, kangaroos, turtles, giraffes, and even a fish! The guinea pigs were a little too shy for pets, but we did see some adorable baby cats - and, one of the highlights, a cockatoo told us, “I love you.”

It was an experience we’ll be talking about for a long time. It was so much fun and worth the drive if you're looking for something unique to do with the family. 🐾

MISSING: This little lady was chasing a stray cat 2 days ago and left her family's property. They have been searching for her since. She lives near Eldorado, but could be anywhere in the area by now. She is a little bigger than in this photo as she is only 8 months old. She has a pretty easily identifiable scar across her snout. If you have seen her, please give the clinic a call.

Today is World Rabies Day and we want to remind you that rabies is nearly always fatal once symptoms appear, but 100% preventable when the right steps are taken quickly.

Nebraska has confirmed 33 animal rabies cases so far this year, compared with 26 by this date last year. Most of this year’s confirmed cases have been in bats, but skunks and a dog have been found with rabies as well this year. You can protect your pets by keeping their rabies vaccinations current. Avoid contact with bats and other wild animals. If you or your pet may have been exposed, contact a healthcare provider, veterinarian, or local public health department right away.

You can learn more about keeping yourself, your family, and your pets safe from this debilitatying disease at https://www.cdc.gov/rabies and if you have concerns that your pet is not vaccinated, please call us to set up an appointment. 🐾
