Sweet Callie is working her way though our day training program. She is very high anxiety and is starting to show guarding behaviors with the other dog in the house. Training looks a little different with dogs like Callie. She isn't motivated by food (who wants to eat when they're nervous?) and she can easily shut down by asking too much of her before she's ready. We've been relying on some very slow and gentile pressure release for her obedience and a heavy diet of conditioned relaxation techniques. Today she decided to lay down and hang out with me which is absolutely huge! It might not seem like much but it took her 6 days to get here! She's so smart when the noise in her head quiets down.
