Paws to Care (http://www.apsu.edu/paws-to-care) seeks to help the feral cats that reside on APSU's campus by transforming individuals' kindness into organized care. Feral cats have had very little contact with humans

; they typically are born to stray cats or are stray cats that have reverted to feral behavior. From living in the wild, feral cats are more susceptible to feline leukemia, rabies, and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Also, as they have never been spayed or neutered, feral cats reproduce at an exponential rate that easily can increase a population from 12 to 2,000 in four years! However, a group, organization, or club with more resources can participate in the Adopt-a-Cat program. For $300, you can provide one feral cat with vaccinations, a spay/neuter procedure, and food for one year. We also gladly accept Purina Cat Food (Purina Cat Chow Complete in the blue bag) or coupons to be used toward the purchase of food for the cats. If you have coupons or food to donate, please see Corina Ravenscraft at the APSU Woodward Library. Good morning, everyone! It's a "Thankful Thursday" here on the beautiful campus of Austin Peay. Today, we're thankful for all of the big shade trees around campus. They help keep us (and the cats!) cool when the summer temps creep up into the high 80's and 90's. You'll probably see the cats lounging in the shade of bushes, or lying on cool concrete, or sometimes... even up in a tree! Here's Tux to prove it! ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ๐ŸŽฉ

Good morning, everyone! It's Thursday, which means it's time for another post full of gratitude.

Today's "Thankful Thursday" hearts go out to all of our followers out there who let us know about the recent spate of scammers posting FAKE SHIRT announcements and tagging lots of people. ๐Ÿ˜พ Grrrr! They've all been reported, blocked and deleted, but in case you ever see someone advertising ANY kind of Paws to Care apparel, it's a SCAM. We may offer shirts or something at some point, but when we do, believe us, you will know it's legit.

Anyway, THANK YOU to everyone who alerted us to the scammers! We're grateful for you, and honestly, the scammers absolutely underestimated the investigative powers of cat rescue followers. Cat people notice *everything*.

Our sweet calico Farbie had some choice words, too. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿพโค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜บ๐ŸŽฉ

Good morning, everyone! It's a beautiful Thursday here on the APSU campus, and we have another very special "Thankful Thursday" post for you.

You may remember Clyde and Calypso, the father/daughter duo who liked to hang out near the McReynolds bridge and Ellington building. Well, we've found them a wonderful "fur-ever home" and they have both been adopted together! Right now, they're in a walk-in kennel that allows them to decompress and learn to recognize their new location as "home". Anytime feral cats are relocated, this step is 100% necessary, because otherwise the cats do their best to get back to what they knew as "home" before... and they often don't survive that 'incredible journey'.

So, today we are sending out a HUGE "THANK YOU!" of gratitude to the following people who made this happy ending possible:

* Elizabeth Stonerock & Alyssa Pearce - who acclimated them to eating under the drop trap and took such good care of them while we were trying to catch them.
* Brandie Duke - who got them into the transport traps and drove them all the way to their new home once they were caught.
* Brittani Quintal - who donated and transported the walk-in kennel to set up at their new home and
* Jill & Bill Endsley - who opened their hearts and home to both of these fur-kids and agreed to adopt them together!

We are thankful to ALL of you, and we just love happy ever afters! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿพโค๐Ÿ˜บ๐ŸŽฉ

Good morning, everyone. Welcome to another "Thankful Thursday" post here at Austin Peay State University! Today we have a very special story to share with you.

This is Fritz. She is one of the few long-haired cats we have on campus and she is around 9 years old, so almost a senior. Fritz tends to get matted in the summers when she starts shedding. This year, it was worse than it has ever been. In fact, our fluffy void had been pulling and tearing at the mats, creating open wounds on her delicate skin! Thanks to our resident trapper extraordinaire, Brandie Duke, Fritz was caught and taken to get a sedated shave (into a lion cut!). The wonderful Dr. Caron Baugher at The Cats on Commerce worked her magic on our sweet, black floofball, and Brandie has been hosting her while the weather has been so cold and crappy.

Brandie informed us that she thinks Fritz can be socialized for adoption! The Paws Team talked about it and we think we would like to try. That's the ideal goal, you know -- to find them all forever homes. Not all of them are suited for it, but when it comes to friendly cats like Fritz... we have to try. THIS is what so much of your support looks like. It's vet visits, vaccinations, aftercare, transportation, trapping, etc. We provide food and water to the campus cats every day, but we also care enough about them to try to make their lives the best they can possibly be.

So, THANK YOU to everyone who helps us help THEM. THANK YOU to Brandie Duke, Brittani, Kelly and our other amazing fosters, to Dr. Baugher and The Cats on Commerce, and all of our tireless feeders. Keep your eyes on this space. When Fritz is 100% ready for adoption, we'll let everyone know. ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜บ๐ŸŽฉ

Good morning, everyone! It's a "Thankful Thursday" here on the beautiful campus of Austin Peay State University. Today, we'd like to give a special shout out "THANK YOU!" to the campus police! They help us keep an eye on the cats and do their best to make sure that people don't bother or harass them. They even have an unofficial 'officer'. ๐Ÿ˜‰This is P.D. (can you guess what the initials stand for?). They love him and take care of him over at the Shasteen Building. We think he should be arrested for being so darned adorable! What do you think? ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜บ๐ŸŽฉ

Good morning, everyone! It's "Thankful Thursday" and today we'd like to send out a giant shout-out "THANK YOU" to Zone 3 Press for inviting us to have a table at last Friday's Writers' Festival event! We had a great time and raised $430 for the cats! ๐Ÿ˜ปMe-WOW!

THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who came by and donated, too! The money raised will buy a bunch of cat food or go a long way toward paying vet bills. Our sweet, shy kitty Sox wanted to say "Thank Mew!", too. Sox is Isolde's BFF, and she has what is called a "spotted tabby" coat pattern. See her white socks? ๐Ÿ˜‰

We are truly thankful that so many others care about the campus cats like we do. You all make us smile! ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜บ๐ŸŽฉ

On this beautiful Fur Baby Friday we bring you a fabulous adoption update! ๐Ÿ˜ป

A few weeks ago our Adventure Duo took a trip to their new home in Missouri with an APSU Alumni. Their foster mom met their furever mom about half way to transfer them. Don't worry, they traveled in style and comfort in what can only be described as "the Cadillac of carriers" complete with litter box, extra room, and windows for viewing. ๐Ÿ˜‰

In our most recent update, their furever mom says Mickey (formerly Dr. Jones) and Mallory (formerly Dora) are adjusting well to their new home with dogs and cat siblings. She is already so in love with Mickey's showstopping, affectionate self, and enjoying getting to know Mallory's quiet, cuddly self. ๐Ÿฅฐ

We are so thankful to their new mom for giving them a purrrfect furever home! โค๏ธ

Good morning, everyone! It's a beautiful "Thankful Thursday" here at APSU, and you'll probably see the campus cats out and about or sunbathing, which is their favorite activity! Today, we'd like to thank everyone who has donated or supported us in the past couple of weeks, as we replaced the feeding and warming shelters which got vandalized. We also want to say, "THANK MEW!" to Mrs. Linda Stolz, for the big bags of cat food!

We wanted to share one of our favorite photos we received recently. This is Poofy. You'll normally see him around Harned and/or Harvill Halls. We affectionately call him "Gramps" even though he is only about 9 years old, because he sometimes has arthritis which bothers him, so he tends to "slink". Here he is, loving the warmth of the bench in all his leonine glory. He looks like he's waiting for the bus, doesn't he? ๐Ÿ˜น ๐Ÿพโค๐Ÿ˜บ๐ŸŽฉ

It is Thankful Thursday, Paws family! Spring is in the air, flowers are blooming and our kitties are out enjoying the sunshine. ๐ŸŒž

Speaking of sunshine, we still have our little friend, Gigi looking for her forever home. Frankly, we cannot understand why no one has snatched this angel up.

One year ago, our team rescued her family from underneath a generator and a foster took them in and bottle fed them. Two sisters have been adopted, but our littlest one is still here.

She's 1 year old, fully vetted, microchipped, and ready for her new home! Gigi is a snuggle-muffin extraordinaire! โค๏ธ She will talk to you all day long in sweet whispers and purrs as she snuggles down into your lap. She loves to be held, loves naps with her person, and is so well behaved. ๐Ÿ˜บ

She would make a great family or child's kitty, she just loves love and thinks she's a "people."

If you are interested in this angel, please send us a message!

And to those who celebrate, Happy Easter and Happy Passover. ๐Ÿ˜บ

Good morning, everyone! It's a Thursday here on the beautiful Austin Peay State University campus, and that means it's time for another "Thankful Thursday" post. We have lots to be grateful for, today!

First, we'd like to send out a big THANK YOU to Mrs. Deborah Fetch for the kind donation of food and treats! The cats will especially appreciate the treats. ๐Ÿ˜ป

Next, we'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and encouragement we've received after the vandalization of a couple of our feeding and warming stations last weekend. Extra big THANKS to the Art Club, who are donating stickers for us to use for fund-raising and invited us to join them this morning for their Artist's Market from 11 AM - 2 PM in the MUC Plaza today! ๐Ÿ˜บ Come see us!

Lastly, but certainly not least, we'd like to say THANK YOU to Katie and James, who adopted Rowan (pictured below) from us three years ago and sent us a generous donation and an update. They said:

"Thank you for all you do and for taking such good care of Rowan until our paths crossed three years ago! Here he is participating in one of his favorite pastimes, early this morning when it was still too chilly to open the windows and then later today after we gave in to his pleas." ๐Ÿ˜น

Thanks for giving him such an awesome forever home and for the update! We LOVE getting updates on our "success stories"! ๐Ÿพโค๐Ÿ˜บ๐ŸŽฉ
