🐾 Meet Megan, Certified Veterinary Technician🐾
While Megan may be one of the newer additions to our team, working here for about 4 years. She is certainly no stranger to veterinary medicine! With 18 years of experience in the field, Megan has always had a passion for caring for animals. She graduated from Johnson College in Scranton and completed her internship at Cornell University, setting the stage for an incredible career in veterinary medicine.
The majority of Megan’s career was spent in referral medicine at a local emergency center, where she worked as a lead surgical technician. Along the way, she discovered passions
for Neurology (having dealt with her own epileptic dog) as well as Emergency medicine. Surgery and physical rehabilitation, were the major focus' of her career!
Megan’s special interests include canine rehabilitation, surgery, and anesthesia. She is also PennHIP certified, a specialized screening method used to evaluate canine hip joints, and completed her Canine Rehabilitation Certification through the University of Tennessee in 2019. This certification was a two- to three-year journey, making the day she completed the program one of the most memorable milestones of her career!
What does Megan love most about her job? Being hands-on with her patients and getting to perform the medicine! She enjoys a challenging nursing case and being directly involved in their care.
Now for a fun fact about Megan! She absolutely LOVES Border Collies and at one point owned three! She has also dabbled in dog sports, including agility, obedience, and sheep herding. Clearly, her love for animals extends well beyond the clinic!
When Megan isn't at work, you can find her volunteering at Cedar BMX, where she serves on the board of this nonprofit organization, In her free time she spends it traveling all over the country watching her son race BMX! While she finds it hard to just relax she has loved taking a back seat to this chapter of her life. At home, she has a furry family of her own consisting of one dog and two cats: Brea, N***y, and Mr. Pickles.
Megan's advice to anyone interested in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine is inspiring: Never stop believing in yourself! If you put in the work, anything is possible. Keep chasing your dreams as they can take you places you never imagined.
We are so excited to have Megan as part of our Abington Vet Center family! Her experience, dedication, and passion for helping animals make her a addition to our team. ❤️🐾
