Tonight marks one year since our lives were flipped upside down. That day started out at Willow Draw HT, followed by a truck fire on the haul home, and then the tornado hitting as we were finally pulling in at the house. This year has flown by, and progress has been slow and difficult. So many projects have been tackled, with many still to be done. We cannot thank everyone enough for their support that night. From Pine Ridge Equine Hospital’s Dr Meagan Thomason coming out to assist with triage, and Dr Shelby Matz continuing excellent care in the weeks after. Emelie, David, and Liam of Teal Ridge Equestrian coming to transport horses to the hospital, our staff on site jumping into action, and Erika Marable dropping everything to come catch horses and help get everyone settled.
Eighteen Acres Farm housing my precious boy Frank, along with Melissa, Toni, and Summer Hills Farm taking in the rest of my crew.
Elite Hoofcare putting in extra hours, driving all over, putting everyone’s hooves back together.
Too many people to tag, but the amount of hands we had helping that week with initial cleanup and support was incredible! Nicole Riffe, Laurie Hedlund, Anna Childers, Danny Scavone, Mary Scott-Booth, and so so many more.
Kara Folkins was coordinator extraordinaire, along with so many of our family members who kept coming back day after day.
Our amazing clients made sure we were fed, and cared for.
This disaster taught us how to care for others in a time of need, how to slow down and re-evaluate our goals (again, and again, and again), and was (and still is) a true test of our grit. We miss, and think of all the beloved horses that were lost everyday.
Thank you to everyone❤️
