Did you know: Why do people wear poppies on Memorial Day?
Red poppies symbolize remembrance and respect for those who died in service to their country. It was originally inspired by the 1915 poem “In Flanders Fields,” by John McCrae, to honor those who died in WWI.

Memorial Day is a reminder of the brave men and women who served our country and gave their lives for our freedom.

Today mark‘s 52 years since David Bowie released his eighth studio album Diamond Dogs 🔥
This is my all-time favorite Bowie album and how the shop got its name! (Plus a little show called Ted Lasso helped)

David had hoped to create a theatrical production of George Orwell‘s book 1984 and began work on the project after completing Pin Ups in 1973. However, he was denied the rights to the novel by Orwell‘s widow Sonia Brownell so he worked with the concept accordingly.

Rabies Is 100% Preventable!!

Rabies is a virus that affects the central nervous system of mammals. It is most often spread through the bite of an infected animal. In the U.S. and Canada, wildlife such as bats, raccoons, skunks, and foxes are the most common carriers. Pets can be exposed if they come into contact with these animals, even briefly.

What makes rabies especially concerning is that once symptoms appear, there is no effective treatment. The focus is entirely on prevention, and vaccinations are highly effective at stopping the disease before it starts.

Key Prevention Tips & Facts:
Vaccination schedule -
Most pets receive their first rabies vaccination between 12 and 16 weeks of age, followed by a booster one year later. After that, boosters are given every 1 to 3 years depending on the vaccine and local regulations.

Know the signs of rabies:
Early signs can be subtle and may look like a change in your pet’s normal behavior.

Watch for:
Unusual anxiety, restlessness, or withdrawal

Increased irritability or aggression

Sensitivity to light, touch, or sound

Fever or decreased appetite

As the disease progresses, symptoms can include:
Difficulty swallowing or excessive drooling

Staggering, weakness, or lack of coordination

Paralysis, especially in the hind limbs

Seizures

Unusual vocalization or behavior that seems out of character

If you ever notice these signs, especially after a possible exposure, contact your veterinarian immediately.

All dogs coming to Diamond Dogs MUST have their rabies vaccination. Only exception, with a letter from your veterinarian, is due to health issues the vaccination is not permitted. Employees must know ahead of appointment in order to take appropriate precautions.

• Must have a minimum of 1 years professional grooming experience including ALL breed sizes (Many large dogs in this area).
