We are frequently asked about the bright school of orange-red fish in one of our plant systems: they're Ember Tetras.

Hobbyists are often shocked by how intense their color is compared to the ones usually seen for sale. That is one of the reasons why tank size and design, proper schooling numbers and high-quality nutrition are so important to us. When a fish is comfortable in their environment, their colors and natural behaviors will really shine through!

Like many of the swordtails you see, Black Swordtails are not a naturally occurring color variant. Selective cross-breeding of wild swordtails and platys have created most of the variants available.

They are a live-bearing fish and will do best being kept in groups where females out number males.

Emerald Rainbowfish are one of only two species of rainbowfish that are native to Lake Wanam in Papua New Guinea. They are considered critically endangered in the wild but are still commercially available thanks to captive-breeding programs.

Rainbowfish are peaceful fish that do well in groups, though they can get quite chaotic during feeding times.
