The Cincinnati Zoo is proud to partner with the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership, providing critical care for orphaned and injured manatees with the goal of returning them to the wild.

Our animal care team helps these gentle giants grow stronger, gain independence, and prepare for life back in their natural habitat. By visiting the Zoo, you help support conservation efforts that protect manatees and the waterways they call home.

Happy National Black Bear Day.

Hazel and Juniper, the Cincinnati Zoo’s two orphaned black bear cubs, are growing fast and winning hearts along the way. The sisters were rescued after losing their mother in the wild and are now receiving expert care from our animal care team.

While black bears are strong and adaptable, young cubs depend heavily on their mothers for survival during their first years of life. Hazel and Juniper’s story is an important reminder of the challenges wildlife can face and the role accredited zoos play in animal rescue, care, and conservation.

Be sure to stop by and see these playful cubs on your next Zoo visit.
