Just a little bit of magic Smurf powder 💙 for the lambs.

You don't realize how many Smurfs it takes to dehydrate and grind down to make every dose of powder.

In reality though this is an electrolyte product called Blue-Lyte, I used to use it years ago and thought it wasn't being made anymore. But then I found it at Premier 1.

The lambs all love it and when we're getting hot weather this early in the season it helps them acclimate.

It might seem like a simple thing and a common one, but you'd be amazed how many people ask why their lamb, calf, goat etc isn't drinking and the cause is a dirty bucket.

This time of year when it's hot it's a pretty quick thing to give your pails a scrub every couple days.

Hydration is key for any animal but especially when you're raising show stock that you want to grow and look their best.

I haven't been posting much because of everything going on around here following the passing of my dad the end of May.

But the ewes still needed moving to a new pasture and I took a second to grab a quick video.

Do you think they look happy with all the grass?

Yes, I let it get a little too far ahead of them, but I'll leave them in it for a bit to chew it down and then when I move them I'll mow it to knock down the tough stuff they didn't want to eat.

I had to laugh this morning.

I took down the dividing wire to give the ewes behind the house another section of grass. But these two ewes of my parents had never been over here near our dog.

I couldn't figure out at first why they wouldn't go through even once the other ewes had gone to eat. But then I realized they were watching Mayhem and wanting nothing to do with going near him. Our ewes are used to him and could have cared less about him bouncing around on his runner.

Eventually they went over but they still kept a close eye on him until he came back in the house.
