Bark BOTS-Behavior Obedience Training & Sitting My name is Lana and I am a dog/cat trainer and care taker. I have a master's degree in science and attended veterinary school to study animal behavior.

Bark BOTS was created to cater especially to those pets with behavioral and medical needs but we serve all animals with training, camp, and care visits in the Anchorage, Alaska area. I completed Dr. Ian Dunbar's Behavior & Training Academy courses and have been accepted to become a KPA-CTP. I specialize in the management of dog/cat aggression, separation anxiety, resource guarding, leash pulling a

nd aggression, reactivity, and house training. These skills were acquired during my time spent in St. Kitts as a personal dog trainer, kennel dog trainer, and behavior consultant for the dogs and cats of St. Kitts and Nevis. My passion is rescue and rehabilitation and I have saved over 30 feral dogs and over 200 cats who have all been rehomed. I have also shadowed Dr. Lisa Radosta (DACVB), Mindy Cox (CPDT), Dr. Louisa Beal(DVM), and Andrea Arden and am enrolled in Dr. Ian Dunbar's Dunbar Academy. I am inspired by the human-animal bond and look forward to helping you strengthen that bond with your pet through positive reinforcement training or pet sitting. I would be happy to make multiple trips to your residence, stay in your home, or have your pets stay at my residence as long as they are dog and cat friendly. My rates and schedule are flexible and you can contact me via private messaging or email.

Our tortoise is rubbing off on the dogs! Everything in our yard is free of pesticides and edible. Some plants include 3 types of clover and dandelions.

EVERY successful relationship is a product of CONSISTENCY, PREDICTABLY, and RELIABILITY so why not maintain the same values we practice with our humans with our pets? This practice creates TRUST, reduces anxiety and frustration, fosters confidence and strengthens the human-animal bond. In our house, the “sit” command translates to “please” and all Bark B.O.T.S. are polite. It is asked for once and if the dog is distracted or isn’t understanding what I want, we restart by moving to a different spot and repeating the command once again. It’s important not to repeat a command multiple times because your dog might think “sit sit sit sit” is the actual command rather than just “sit.”

Let your dogs walk and play in the rain. Moisture traps odor molecules in the air and on the ground and humidity makes their nasal passages more receptive to scents. This makes post-rain environments smell richer and more intense, creating a "sniffari" full of new information.
