LOOKS LIKE LOTS OF SNOW FOR THE COMING WINTER IN TENNESSEE.
Who says?
Well, Rebecca Vernon Walker sent these persimmons seeds from Cookeville.
“Nick, looks like all spoons.”
Yup.
And, what does that mean?
Folklore suggests the shape inside the seed can predict the winter weather.
The first idea is to cut open the seed of a locally-grown American persimmon fruit to see the shape of the internal embryo, or cotyledon.
A fork shape predicts a mild winter.
A SPOON shape like these forecasts a snowy winter with a lot of shoveling.
A knife shape suggests a harsh, windy, and cold.
GET YOUR SNOW SHOVELS AND SLEDS READY.
Hmmmmm … think I’ll check with a woolly worm.
