Who gets tangled up with a porcupine? Do you realize how much effort that takes? And why do dogs have to be so impulsive? Me, I just trot up to any new thing, consider my next move for awhile and then choose the approach that expends the least amount of my precious energy. Simple, effective and I'm never the one get quills pulled out.

I'm gobbling up my treat to forget about that bad porcupine! The old man had to pull out 6 or 7 quills from my flank while the Old Lady held me tight. I was the best dog ever, but I'm never chasing a porcupine again! But guess what? We got to stay up until 10:30 cause the Old Man was at the Tornadoes game.

The 'Ol Man and his kid bride took Guinevere and me out boating. Of course, Guinevere did a lot of posing and showing off around the docks and on the Weldkraft. She was a little scared of the dock when it moved. Me? I'm a Lab. I don't waste no energy until the shotguns come out. Or until there's some chow involved. It was good to see 'Ol Court Stanley, though.

I was setting there minding my own business and watching the Old Man cooking omelets, when WHAM, right out of a clear blue sky a piece of Gruyere cheese fell right in front of my nose! Never give up, Pilgrims.

I took Grandpa Jim pheasant hunting in Montana this weekend. He did pretty good keeping up, but of course, I put on a lot more miles! My poor feet are SO sore. I'm snoozing all the way home today.

Guinevere and I had a nice visit with the guard puppies. They keep the chickens safe from eagles and coyotes. I growled a little, through the fence. They were a little more polite to Guinevere after that.

Dante had a little procedure performed by our friend Dr. Jerry W. Brown. While Dante was still groggy, it seems that Jerry slid a keyboard in front of him and induced Dante to write a glowing testimonial. I don't disagree with any of it and I admire the initiative of this wily old veterinarian. I think I might encourage Dante to leave a few compliments on some websites since small town vets need all the encouragement they can get and Jerry seems a little stove up from all of his old-timey run-ins with cows and horses.

3 days of hard hunting in Montana. Us farm dogs are plenty tough enough for the cold snow of Choteau. There were 6 dogs hunting and I had a darn tough time keeping Guinevere out of trouble, that little minx... It was my first time, but I'm a Lab so it was a piece of cake.

The Old Man took me for the morning walk all by myself! That's right, that smarty-pants Guinevere got left behind! What a day. And don't comment that my floppy ears look cute...I'm a tough dog. Grrrr...
