This is why Genetic testing is so important. I have all my dogs tested that are in my program. That way I know they are producing healthy puppies. If two carriers of the same gene are bred it makes an affected puppy. That's why testing is a must. If a dog carries one copy it means they are not affected. So they are totally healthy. Taking them out of a program can unintentionally hurt the breed as a whole because it takes away diversity in the breed which leads to limited gene pool. They still have a lot of good genetics to pass down. So breeding responsibility is so important.
