🍼🐾 BOTTLE BABIES… IN OCTOBER?! 🐱🍂

It may be hard to believe, but we are STILL getting bottle babies coming through our doors!

Meet Otter! 🦦💕 This tiny little guy and his FOUR siblings arrived at CHA just a week ago, and they aren’t the only ones! We currently have several other bottle babies being cared for in foster homes.

With all these hungry little mouths to feed, our kitten formula supply is running low! 🍼

Due to ongoing construction at the shelter, Chippewa Humane Association will be open by appointment only today, Thursday, October 15th.

🐾 All previously scheduled appointments will continue as planned.

We will resume our normal operating hours on Saturday, October 17th!

🐾❤️ FOSTERS NEEDED! CAN YOU OPEN YOUR HOME TO A SHELTER DOG IN NEED? 🏡🐶

We have several dogs and puppies who would greatly benefit from spending some time in a foster home! Whether you’re able to foster for a few weeks or help a puppy get a break from shelter life, YOU can make a difference! 💕

🐺 SHY – 8-MONTH-OLD HUSKY MIX

Shy was hit by a car and unfortunately had to have one of his legs amputated. 💔 This sweet boy has already been through so much at such a young age, and we would LOVE to see him recover in the comfort of a foster home rather than in a shelter kennel.

Shy needs a safe, comfortable place to rest, heal, and receive some extra TLC while he adjusts to life on three legs. ❤️‍🩹

🐶 REDBONE HOUND MAMA & HER 6 PUPPIES

We are looking for a foster willing to take in a Redbone Hound mama and her six adorable puppies, estimated to be around 4 weeks old! 🥹💕

Ideally, we would love for this little family to stay together in foster care until the puppies are approximately 7–8 weeks old.

We know six puppies and their mama can be a handful! Once the puppies are weaned and ready to be separated from mom, we can arrange for additional foster homes to take one or two puppies each to help lighten the load!

🐾 PUPPY FOSTER NEEDED!

We also have a puppy, approximately 4 months old, who would LOVE a break from shelter life!

The shelter can be an overwhelming place for a young puppy. A foster home would give this little one the opportunity to experience a home environment, work on basic manners, and receive the one-on-one attention that growing puppies need. 🏡💕

⚡SHELTER SPOTLIGHT: MEET TANK & SALSA! ⚡

Two very different personalities, one thing in common — they're both searching for their families!

MEET TANK! 🐕

🎂 Age: 2½ years old
⚖️ Weight: 57 lbs
✂️ Neutered: Yes
🐕 Dogs: Does well with other dogs
👧 Kids: Has done well with children
🏠 House-Trained: Yes!
🚗 Car Rides: Excellent passenger!

Tank is a friendly, affectionate boy who seems to make friends wherever he goes! After spending more than a year in a home, Tank has found himself searching for a family once again.

He's previously enjoyed doggy daycare, loves spending time with people and other dogs, and is always up for an adventure! With his previous home experience and lovable personality, Tank is ready to get back to being someone's best buddy. 💙

Salsa may walk a little differently, but don't tell him that...he's got important kitten business to attend to! 😂

This sweet little guy has nerve damage affecting one of his front legs, causing him to walk with a limp. While he may always have limited use of that leg, our veterinarian does not expect it to negatively impact his quality of life.

Salsa is still a curious, affectionate kitten who loves exploring and has plenty of love to give. He doesn't need someone to feel sorry for him — he just needs someone to love him! 🧡

🐶 DOUBLE TROUBLE: BEAGLE EDITION!🐶

Meet Peppy (better known as Pepe Le Meatball 🧆) and Bailey! 🐾❤️

No, they’re not brothers. No, they’re not related. And no, you’re not seeing double. 👀

Somehow, we ended up with TWO chunky beagles who look like they could be long lost cousins!

These boys have a few things in common:
🐾 They’re both beagles!
🍖 They’re carrying a little extra love around the middle.
👀 They’re very opinionated (if you’ve owned a beagle, you know).
❤️ And they’re both looking for homes!

While Peppy and Bailey may look like long-lost cousins, they’re two completely separate dogs with their own personalities and stories.

Two meatballs. Two homes needed. Twice the beagle love! 🐶💕

🌹 FOSTER FRIDAY: Meet Minnie Rose! 🌹

At 9 years old, Minnie Rose knows what she likes, what she doesn’t, and exactly how she wants to be loved. ❤️

After being surrendered following nine years in a home, shelter life was incredibly difficult for Minnie. She became withdrawn and depressed, so we knew she needed a change of scenery. Thankfully, a foster home gave her exactly that — and we’ve gotten to see a whole new side of Minnie Rose. 🥹

In foster, Minnie spends her days lounging, snoozing, keeping an eye on things, and enjoying the company of her people. Her foster dad has won her over by sitting near her every morning and letting Minnie decide when she wants affection — and more often than not, she chooses to climb right into his lap. She even gives her foster mom little nose kisses! 💕

Minnie is touch-sensitive and has firm opinions about personal space. She doesn’t enjoy being picked up or over-petted and needs someone who will pay attention to her body language and let her set the pace. Because of this, we’re looking for a quiet, adult-only home where she can feel comfortable and secure.

And we can't forget her most prized possession: her basket. 🧺 Minnie LOVES that basket, and yes, it will absolutely be going home with her when she’s adopted!

Minnie isn’t looking for someone who needs an endlessly cuddly cat. She’s looking for someone who will appreciate her independence, her quirks, her little bit of attitude, and just how special it feels when a sensitive cat decides you’re their person. 🌹

Her foster family has given Minnie the chance to feel like herself again. Now she just needs a forever home where she can keep blooming. ❤️🏡

⚡️ SHELTER SPOTLIGHT: Moose And Miss Kitty! ⚡️

Meet Moose - approximately 80% legs, 20% good intentions 😬😁

Moose is a young, happy, high-energy guy who is still learning what it means to be a well-mannered house dog. He’s goofy, enthusiastic, incredibly treat-motivated, and already knows that sitting nicely = snacks. The problem is remembering his manners when something more exciting is happening… which is most of the time. 🤪
Moose was recently adopted and returned after his family found that house training was taking longer than expected and that Moose had developed a particular interest in exploring the garbage. 🗑️
But Moose is young, and as far as we know, he hasn’t had much consistent training in his life. He isn’t a “bad dog” — he’s a dog who still needs to be taught!
Moose needs someone willing to go back to the basics with him: routines, house training, boundaries, basic commands, and lots of positive reinforcement. In return, you get a ridiculously happy, long-legged goofball who is eager to learn and has SO much potential. ❤️
He may not come home as a finished product, but with someone willing to put in the work, we think Moose is going to make one heck of a companion.

Miss Kitty 🤠
💕 She raised her babies. Now it’s finally her turn. 💕
Miss Kitty came to us from a hoarding situation VERY pregnant — and she wasted absolutely no time. Just one day after arriving at the shelter, she gave birth to her kittens. 🥹🐾
Thankfully, a foster family opened their home to her, giving Miss Kitty a quiet and comfortable place to raise her babies away from the stress of the shelter. And once she settled in, we got to see just how wonderful this girl really is. ❤️
Miss Kitty is approximately 6 years old and is sweet, friendly, affectionate, and just an all-around lovely cat. She does well with other cats and even lived with dogs while in foster care!
Her kittens have grown, her mama duties are officially over, and Miss Kitty has been spayed and is up to date on her vaccines.
