"Hobo" has been taken to the Chippewa County Humane Assn. He is an entire male Tom who has been visiting my feed room for a while. I don't need a fourth cat who decided to take over the roost. Very calm, brave, bold ; allowed me to doctor a small wound on his side. If he's yours, that's where to find him.

30 years! May 1, 1996- May 1, 2026. Grateful to God, my parents, husband, family and friends. Flabbergasted that I've been pulling weeds this long. We've made many improvements on the farm. I have many wonderful memories of students and horses over the years and miss teaching a lot. Many internalized horse training lessons, both physical and mental. Grateful for the opportunity and soundness to live this dedicated lifestyle. Grateful to share this life with Spencer and the BoyZ.

Ode to Wart (With Highest Honor). Rehabilitation. Not for the ambitious or faint-hearted. This is before and after 6 years this coming June 30; on HIS schedule, not mine. LOTS of musculo-skeletal injuries and mental health trust and pain issues. Such a smart, tough horse with the most Try and Heart I've experienced in my 57 years with horses. Not THAT kind of "Lesson Horse!" Thanks to Wart's Village of people. Kathy: who has found new levels of Patience and Perseverance. Farrier Emily Blodgett, Vets Dr. Brenda Tabor-Adams and Dr. Jaimie Horner, our BoyZ Nick & Mike. Thanks to my husband Spencer who "baby-sat" me through the first sketchy rides and still helps at the shows. I'll try to stay on this year!

When a Horse Lets Go

A horse does not relax by accident.
Its body is built for alertness.
For flight.
For survival 🐎🤍

So when it exhales deeply beside you,
lets its neck soften,
and releases the tension it carries—
that is not rest.

That is surrender.

It is saying,
“For this moment, I do not need to be ready.”
“For this moment, I am safe.”

Trust like that is not loud.
It is profound.

The final piece of our renovation project. It's been a very physical year for two old farts and two young men. Senn Blacktop (driveway) with Haas (gravel) and three days with Spencer's spectacular skid steer skills and Kathy's raking/shoveling/sweeping handiwork completed the edges from the road to the shop. The BoyZ helped here and there. Hopefully, this will make plowing easier and eliminate annual rock raking. We're thrilled.

Life is Good. Wart and Penny on trail last week while it was still Summer. Now, instantly, it's Fall and MUCH cooler. These last two rides helped get to "the bottom" of each horse; very beneficial for their training. Wart actually started out relaxed and remained malleable, even at the trot. Thanks to a group of gals who let Penny and me tag along for a 2 hour ride. So appreciative of Spencer, who has accompanied us on each adventure. Looking forward to a couple more rides before the trails close in mid-November.
