Dear Diary: Today, I bravely defended the house from suspicious leaves, invisible threats, and that terrifying delivery person. My human may not fully appreciate my heroic efforts, but protecting the family is serious business. Later, I rolled in something questionable for added greatness. Overall, I was exceptional.

Sometimes I notice their little quirks the odd habits, dramatic reactions, or the way they look at me like I should understand it all and I realize none of it is random. It’s shaped by my routines, my voice, my habits. And I can’t even be upset, because seeing parts of myself in them, even the weird bits, is strangely comforting.

It shows they’ve been loved deeply, raised in a home where they could truly be themselves. That chaotic little legacy is mine, and I wouldn’t change a single thing about it.
