Today, a lady shared with me how she once loved embroidery, but after a stroke affected the vision in one of her eyes, she had to find another way to continue creating. She now crochets these beautiful little turtle hatchlings and I have to agree, they are truly special.

She unexpectedly gifted one to me, never knowing that I had started my morning with a lot on my mind. Her kindness, her story and this tiny turtle brought a bright spot to my day at exactly the right time.

Hatchling turtles are often associated with new beginnings, resilience, protection and continuing forward. With that in mind, this little one has officially become my guardian turtle a sweet reminder that the smallest gestures can sometimes make the greatest impression.

In fact, this kind gesture had me in tears this morning. Not because of the tree issue, but she gifted from her heart and had no idea how she stitched my heart today.

Our entrance at CPC is back open!
I’m thankful to know how to operate a loader and especially thankful to have one available today. Thankful for minor, repairable damage.

Moments like this are also a reminder of the importance of allowing children the time and freedom for constructive play. Let them dig in the sandbox, explore how things work and simply be kids. Those early experiences can help build the confidence and practical skills they may rely on later in life.

The skills we begin building through childhood play can stay with us for a lifetime. I use loaders, tractors and other equipment regularly throughout farm life, and today those skills meant I didn’t have to wait for someone else to arrive. I could move the tree aside, reopen the CPC entrance and keep going.

It’s amazing what can begin with a little extra time in the sandbox.

Slight Modification to Today’s Activities

When storms come through, you never know what challenges they may leave behind.

We are thankful to report that all ponies and animals at the facility are safe.
We hope everyone on the island and surrounding areas weathered the storm well and are safe.

Due to a fallen tree blocking our main entrance, please enter through the exit gate today.
Our gift store will be open, but other activities may be modified while cleanup and repairs are underway.

Learning doesn’t only happen inside the classroom. Time with ponies can help children build confidence, patience, responsibility and an appreciation for animals.

The heart of agriculture begins in moments just like this, little hands studying the ground, examining the grass and soil, and working together to decide what is needed, while the youngest makes sure the little goat approves.

Each one has a different part in the job, but together they are learning responsibility, compassion, teamwork and care for the animals and the land.

When we give little ones the time to think, explore and discover for themselves, we begin planting the seeds for agriculture’s future and those seeds can take root at any age.

Sunday Inspiration
Some of the most meaningful moments happen after the show is over and the work is done.

Through their shared time with the Chincoteague ponies, these young ladies are developing more than riding skills.
Horses encourage patience, responsibility, communication and confidence, while giving young people a healthy place to slow down, connect and support one another.

The lessons learned from the back of a horse often become a source of strength for navigating life beyond the arena.

Sometimes the quietest moments leave the greatest impression on the heart.
It’s when we take time to notice the joy of the moments.
